I was launching a product and our website began to have a load of hits coming from a mysterious site called boards. I was tasked to investigate and never did a tap of work in that job again.

How did you hear about/ happen upon it?

Apologies for sp. of across (eek)

I was looking on a football site about ireland's World Cup Qualifiers back in 2001 and a link was posted to the Football board.

I registered, posted a little bit, forgot about the place for a couple of years, forgot the password to my old s/n and re-registered.

Devore pays me to post, he said it needed to be made cooler, and that's a service we offer for a nominal fee. What product or website was it btw? Must have been linked from here?

Stumbled on it through Altavista years and years ago looking for something Irish.
Back then, before the revolution, us poor folk used 28.8k.. while... wait a minute, this seems familiar.

There should be a sticky on this or maybe a new entry in regards to threads like these in the charter.

I think that's a bit personal tbh. I'll say no more, it's not sporting.

Sorry it wasnt meant to be personal but for someone like yourself who is here since 2004 should recognise that every other week one of these threads pop up.

On a different forum, there was a thread complaining about how strict it is here. Lol.

I had a look, and found a few boards I liked. Gotten more involved in recent times.

    We're doing this again?

Ok let me re-iterate what I am trying to say, its not personal attack on you , and I apologise if I have insulted you. I was trying to say that someone like yourself who has been a member on boards for the past two years may have a more bit cop on not to post such a thread.

Not necessarily. The OP has about over 200 posts, and I have around 200 posts, a similar figure, and I have never come across such a thread. It is not inconceivable that the OP just never came across it before, or wouldn't habitually visit the forums where it's posted, such as After Hours.

If it's such a problem, why doesn't someone do as suggested above, and merge this with an older thread?

For the record I came across the boards first in March 2005, think I was looking for Limerick-related websites, I wanted to publicise a rant I had about the bus service in the city.

Its nothing to do with posts at all.

This is the main function of the "Search" feature. If you are thinking about starting a thread, especially* in After Hours, take a few minutes and search to see if similar threads have been started before. Then all you have to do is add a post to that thread.

I came across here when I posted on FOOT.IE looking for some Interweb help and someone posted up the boards link to computer technology. That's how it all started for me!!

I was just about to move to Dublin and a friend of mine told me there was a Boards Beers happening and that I should go with him. I moved to Dublin and the next day I went to the Beers and had a laugh and been here since.

Back in 2002 I was told that LAN parties were organised here, I swiftly joined up but re-registered because I didn't like my name :x

I should save this in a txt file so I can just c&p everytime a thread like this starts.

Someone in college told me about the site.

Used it a small bit back when it was quake.ie while under a different name (Abductee). I rediscovered it when a friend mentioned an ad he put up there, and i joined up again, only months later to discover that it was simply a progression from quake.ie. Still remembered my old username and password but never use it
