    Hi everyone.

I'd mentioned when the new year rolled around I'd try my hand at sourcing a venue in the city center for regular magic meets during some weeknight (s).

Its all based on the amount of interest really, but I have a few mates who are testing for upcoming events anyway if there is not much wider interest.

I'll be at the Skylon in Whitehall this Sunday for Jim Brophy's Grand {Prix Trial sealed event and to trade/hang out etc. If ppl have some opinion or just info on how interest they/their friends are, gimme a shout here or on Sunday.

Might even turn up to 3rd place on Sat.

    Cheers,

    AJ

Yay! I came second! Boros Rock!!!!
(both my sealed and draft deck)

    *jumping up and down excitedly*

I and I got to do my first ever draft too! (I'm like a child at christmas :) Daddy, daddy look what santa brought me!) Sitting round at table with 7 other guys who all look like that know what they are doing...lol. I thought that it was great fun though. Getting boosters and passing them and picking cards and all that. (I know there's all this subtlety about signalling and that but I can pick up that later).

Anyway, I got passed a sunforger and there was a load of red cards in the boosters i got so i ended up with a few oddrun commando and skyknight legionnaire and a lighting helix.

In the semifinal I played a french guy who was totally screwed over by his deck in game 2. He mulliganed down to 4 cards having received no land in his 7/6/5 card hands. I felt kinda sorry for him, having made it this far only to lose like that.

Anyway, i thought the booster draft was great fun (even just as an exercise in itself) and i definately wanna do that sometime again soon. :)

See, I'm so happy I don't even need to use proper grammar anymore!

The only sad thing is that I lost my lovely lil Firemane Angel somehwere. :( and she did so well for me during the sealed portion of the event.

    ----

Any of you have interesting stories from the event?

Woah, well done Farcear! Pretty awesome!

My GPT didnt go QUITE so well. Had a nice start with two 2-0 victories, but then faced a guy with a lot of flyers (turn 3 Halcyon Glaze beat me down, then he dropped a turn 6 cerulean sphinx - shudder) earning me a 2-1 loss and i lost the next two games, leaving me with a paltry 6 points and well out of the money. Had a lot of fun, my best moment in the event had to be when my opponent used Mark of Eviction on my Bramble Elemental (getting me two 1/1s). next turn i played galvanic arc on my elemental (getting two more 1/1s and killing one of his creatures), on his turn the elemental and the two auras returned to our hands, allowing me to reuse the arc over and over whenever he used the mark on anything. great fun!

btw, who won the event in the end?

I can't remember his name. I'd know him if i saw him again though. I know i played A_J (thread starter) in the draft but I'm not sure if that was him in the final or not.

    :P

Anyway, it's not the winning, it's the taking part that counts.

    btw: Mark of Eviction. Sucks.

A_J is about 6 foot 3 and has foxy hair. The only and last time i saw him he also has a long leather jacket.

So was it him or not :) ?

I dunno, ive used it rather successfully on my own keening banshee or a random creature enchanted with flight of fancy, arc etc. All in all, its better as a combo trick for your own CIP cards than as removal for your opponents guys.
