What entitles a person to a time and a half wage on Sundays?

    1) If your contract says Mon-Fri/Sat work only, then Sunday may be claimed as overtime.

    2) If you have already worked 37.5 hours in the week, then normally anything over is classed as overtime.

If your contract states, "20 hours per week to be worked any of the 7 days", then I'm afraid your Sunday is just like anyone elses Monday or Tuesday...

    They're my experiences anywho :) !

Dunnes have had numerous problems with unions (specifically Mandate) over the years due to overtime, Sunday pay, etc. They are very specific and organised when dealing with it because of this. Pennys may well be in a similar position.

I work part - time at weekends too. I get double time on Sundays. This was in agreement with the unions back in the 90's. Then the company fought for reducing this to time and a half and won. Now, anyone hired after 2000 only gets time and a half.To the OP, if you work for a large retailer, there should be a shop steward. Have them make some inquiries about your entitlements.

There's a few retailers out there who don't even give time and a half. Xtra-Game gives time and a fifth on Sunday.

i remember reading on oasis.gov (for part time if i remember right) something along the lines of - employers should pay above the normal rate for work on a sunday, but it didnt seem to state what.
