I hope this is ok, but i was wondering how many ( If any ) of you have actually seen a ghost, or what you thought was a ghost? I am not doing a study or anything, just that, having been through a hard year, i have become interested in the paranormal. Would love to hear peoples stories. If this is not allowed to ask i apologise.

Yup, as far as I'm concerned I've seen plenty.
As a kid I always hated cemeteries and as I got older I started to see ghosts. A bedroom of mine was haunted - used to see an old bloke standing at the doorway and the room would go really really cold (which just doesn't naturally happen in the middle of summer in the tropics). One of the walls of the room, you couldn't stick anything on it - white boards/posters/cards - everything would fall down - my dad would even screw things up (concrete wall) and they'd come out! My folx actually acknowledged that there was something up when my mum came into my room one day and saw that my stereo was playing a cd without being plugged in and had no batteries in it. Also the house was broken into one day and even though I had a couple of hundred dollars that you could see from the door to my room (birthday money) lying on my dresser, my room was the only room which wasn't touched.
Then in another city, my place of work was haunted. I'd not told anyone about the ghosts that I'd seen in there when a colleague asked me if I had seen the ghosts and described EXACTLY what I'd been experiencing.
Oh and I hate the old town in Edinburgh - that's one hella creepy city.

EDIT: Oh and my grandfather died when I was about 14 and I knew at the *exact* moment that he died that he had died.

As most people on here know I am a believer in ghosts, having met several myself. Saying that I will just mention one theory which might lead to another way of seeing the above quoted phenonemon (spelling is bad i know).
It is possible that the wall could have had a case of damp with would make its hard for the likes of tape or bluetack to stay up, it might stick at first but then fall at a later time? Also if it is damp the likes of rawplugs/ screws might pull out of damp plasterwork. This is more likey if the other side of the wall was outside and open to the elemnets?

As i said this is just one possible explaination for a pat of what you said, though to be honest I take you at your word on everything you said.

Anyway to answer the question in the topic ... yeah I have seen, heard, felt and smelt ghosts ... havent tasted one yet though?

Yup, can see where you're coming from. Unfortunately there was no damp or anything like that in the house and my dad was working in a water proofing company at the time and he couldn't come up with any explainations! Also the wall was an internal wall and you could stick things up on the opposite side of the wall and they'd stay...

Wouldn't have a clue on this I'm afraid! Maybe just believe? It's not always a pleasant experience to be totally honest with you!

In my opinion ...... read a copy of "Spirited by tony stockwell" ... then get a book on meditation and get your mind in gear.

I'm so glad you took my post the way you did, its nice to make a suggestion to someone about an experience they've had and then get a informative response.... stick around! As I'm sure you'll see on other topics here there is a big debate about questioning peoples beliefs and asking for proof of their experiences.

In my opinion (i'm starting every post with this now) you'll more than likely never get hard proof but you may have an experience one day and I hope you'll be open to taking it for what it is with a little blind faith... if neccesary.

I never really knew what to think about the whole ghost thing tbh. My mother passed away when I was really young and I used to have a really strong phobia of being alone, if I was left in a room on my own I would just scream and cry until somebody came to me because i'd feel very uneasy. I used also see what appeared to be a man dressed all in black out of the corner of my eye but when I turned my head it would disappear. I was never sure whether I was actually seeing a ghost or it was just my over-active imagination at work. This all just seemed to stop as I got older.

Well you're here now so i'm guessing you either want to believe or have just figured out that you always have. If you do want to learn more ...read, read, read! Stick around here too, it can be a great tool for people who just want to know a little more or meet people who might have similar experiences.

Maybe that came across wrong, i will believe people experiance something but for myself there is a lot more behind believing.

Never seen any, that I know of. Not sure how I'd react to seeing one either! ;)

However, I do believe there are such things, as there is too much evidence in terms of reliable witness testimony, photographs and recordings of many types. The question which always interested me was whether these ghosts have sentience. I've read a good many cases which suggested that they did, and others which seem to show the ghosts as recordings from time, oblivious to their surroundings.

Another question to consider would be do they exist independently of ourselves and our reality, and are they the same consciousness as the person who was alive. If so, then it fully supports the theory of an afterlife/soul. Although maybe someone in another reality is viewing us as ghosts on occasion. When you get into the multidimensional realities hypothesis, it can get a bit... conceptual or abstract? :)

I've been a medium for over 20 years, but I've *never* seen a ghost nor would I want to! I am the world's biggest chicken! LOL!

I see 'dead ppl' in my mind's eye/clairvoyantly. That's just fine with me!

I'd be hanging from the ceiling if I ever saw a ghost materialize in a vaporous form in front of me... yikes! :p

    Howdy all,

I do believe that I've had a number of paranormal things happen around me. First one that happened was when I was about 14 years old, and since then, I think I've seen ghosts about 4-5 times. Obviously, I cant be 100% sure, but there were circumstances around some of them apart from what I saw that led me to believe that they were indeed spirits, or ghosts, or whatever the correct term is. Strangely, I was never really THAT frightened by any of them. I dont consider myself sensitive to these things, but then again, when I broach the subject with friends, you can always spot one eyebrow slightly raising as you continue talking, so I tend to not bring it up very often!!! I think the majority of people think you're mad if you talk about it, so its more something I keep to meself. Still interested in hearing other peoples stories though....

Yeah I used to have that happen alot and i think if people leave it too long before talking about it the convince themselves it just didnt happen. I made a comment before on another thread that telling people you were interested in the paranormal or that you saw ghosts must almost be like coming out as gay in some peoples eyes.

What places? And what do you feel around them?
