LAST MINUTE DEALS (I need your Help)

Hey, I need the help of the experienced boards users. I have never booked a last minute deal, and have only ever gone on sun package holidays.
I have a week of in February (19th - 26th) and I want to go to New York (or Boston) with my friend.
I have never been to the states before, and my plan (if thats what you could call it) is to book flights (for as cheap as possible) and then find accomodation when we arrive(as I have heard you can save a fortune this way).

Anyhow, my problem is, I have zero experience searching for last minute, or discount flights, and I am wondering where best to look, and whn. (Should I be looking now or wait closer to the time?)

Any help on this would be much appreciated!

    Thanks a million :D

Best advice is to get a flight with aer lingus as they are having a sale now, if your flexible you will get a better deal. You aernt going to get a better deal to the states than with aer lingus.

For a hotel simply go to www.hotels.com, they are the cheapest on the net and offer great deals. I book all my hotels through them.

I agree! I booked 3 nights in New York in March with them for €700 including taxes, fees and charges... now all I need is the accomodation :)

You could try searching on www.expedia.com or www.priceline.com and getting a price. Once you have it, get the hotel's details and call them directly to ask for their best price. They will often beat the price advertised on the web.

Two hotels that I have found good deals at are the Helmsley Midtown and The Wellington. Both have good locations, though the Helmsley has the better location - right near Times Square:

    www.newyorkhelmsley.com

    www.wellingtonhotel.com
