I know some of you lads use chrisguitars.com.

How long does it take him to reply to emails ? I've requested a total price on a PRS Custom 22. I made a similar request a good while back and he never got back to me?

Anyone have any stories about dealing with Chris ?

Chris is the King. He is a legend. He's busy as **** though. Send him a mail and if you haven't gotten a reply 24 hours later send it again. Make the subject line of the mail very clear that you're looking to spend money.

He recommends ringing him if you don't get an email reply within a day or two.

Unfortunately i relied on him replying via email (emailed him several times) and missed out on a great strat body. Oh well.

I was going to buy the same one so you have until the next time i get drunk to buy it as i'm much more lax with the funds then. It's a beauty though.

So was I, I got the red one. EDIT* about a million times nicer in real life and so would this I'd imagine* The bloody exchange rate is filthy now though. I paid €1550 all inclusive as far as I remember. It was so good at the time. about 1.36 : 1 at the time , dollars to euro. Its about 1.18 : 1 now or something.

Anyway, that's great guitar. I only went for the birds/tentop and to a lesser extent tremolo, for possible resale value in the future if needs be. I hinestlycouldn't give a ****e about them otherwise. €1800 is stil a great price on it though all included. You could probably get a McCarty from England for about €1400 if you put your mind to it. I know a guy who did, non ten top etc. but still amazing. If you are not pushed for a Cu22 then consider it.

Get it. Get it now. You'd be stupid not to ;)

No rush on it. It doesn't look like it's going anywhere soon. It hasn't sold in ages and ages. I'd seriously think about whether it's worth it or not. For €1550 yeah... for over €1800 hmmm It probably still is but I think I'd pass, well, probably.

He hasn't yet started to haggle. Chris is a businessman, he knows how to play the game :)

I never even thought about haggling. I've been looking at a good few Prs's there. I only fancy the green slightly more than some others though. Has it been your experience that he'll drop the price a few dollars?

I didn't haggle with him. It was a completely fair price to be honest. Maybe i did ask though, probably did. Anyway, perhaps buying from england may be cheaper. Less hassle as there are no taxes etc.

I am very tempted by this, I'm sorry I didn't jump on the 2003 McCarthy for a very similar price some time back.

Looking at that, €1800 doesn't seem too bad. I played one before and loved the feel/tone of the guitar so it's not a complete blind buy :)

    Thanks for the opinions.

Now go into Musicmaker and price one and it'll make Chris' price look even better still. They are a top class guitar and a 10 top will always keep a great resale value too. I don't see where you can go wrong here. You might be able to find one cheaper... then again, you might not :)

Just my 2 eurocents but IMHO those antigua ones are totally gank. You'd be likely to be bullied and humiliated by other musicians if you had one of those.;) I mean WTF where they thinking of?

I wouldnt hold my breath on that

I'd say that it very unlikely. I was charged customs (rightly so) on my washburn and that was only $500 worth.

How much did the shipping and customs come to?

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 1,863 Mod ✭✭✭✭Slaanesh

My Mam payed the VAT and duty, she said it came to just over €200.

All in all the guitar came to just over €1800 which is what I expected.
    Shipping cost $125 IIRC.

Now all I have to see is if the guitar is everything I am dreaming it will be then I'm a happy camper :)
