Counterfeit Goods?

Out of curiousity...where would one find counterfeit goods? I am writing an essay on it for class. One of those, pick your own topic, and I looked at my shoes later...CAT shoes, and I realised they look IDENTICAL to Timberland ones. Except for the tops of the shoes....Made me realise how easy it would be to make them...

Where would one find counterfeit goods in someplace such as dublin?
Once you know where, how would you approach the vendor to aquire them?
Where are most counterfeit goods generally produced?

As this is somewhat of an Illegal topic I would think...PM the results to me so this can stay professional...

Markets. Originate in all manner of places but mainly asia. Counterfeit goods have and still do end up being sold by 'unsuspecting' store owners as the real thing!

Where in dublin would I find them for example.

Why does your report require an exact location of where to purchase counterfeit goods?

the thing is.... "counterfeit" goods tend to be made under the exact same conditions by the exact same work force and often pretty much teh same quality standards as the "real" stuff...

those sweatshop factory owners aren't stupid you know.. they know that once they fill their quota with making louis vuitton handbags and send them all off they can very easily use the offcuts and the leftover materials to keep going for another couple of days and have a good few containers of desirable handbags at what to them is still a gigantic markup...

"counterfeit" tends to suggest "manifestly inferior" which most counterfiet stuff you come acros these days isnt really.... as someone already said, its quite common for these so called "counterfeit" goods to be sold in shops next to the legit stuff...

the only reason not to buy counterfeit is because you want to line the pockets of people who knowingly exploit poorly educated and non unionised women and child workers in outsourced manufacturing plants.

Any weeknd market would be worth a visit. One cannot cast aspersions and therefore you should not assume you will definitely find counterfeited or stolen (shoplifters don't steal the clothes or goods for themselves) goods on display and I would not go asking any vendor if his/her goods are bogey.

Blackrock has a market, Temple Bar has one there are more but these should have a good selection of sellers and goods on display.

You must also distinguish between counterfeit and replica. One is legal the other is not.

Dont know about Dublin but if anyones going or knows anyone going to Turkey.. theres no copyright law over there and the knock offs are almost identical to the real thing down to the imprint on the interior of the leather in the the bags.. My mam brings me back a Louis Vuiton bag everytime she goes over (which is nearly every summer) and compaired to the ones on the stalls in Dublin they are a thousand times better quality... Tbh they look and feel no different to any bag you'd pick up in Browne Thomas.. To me anyway.. But Im no expert,.. Although Im sure someone with a better trained eye than me could probably point out a few flaws

there ARE copyright laws in turkey.

and those bags usually ARE the same bags as you buy in BT's as well... they're just being sold on without the knowledge of Louis Vuitton and consist of leftover stock from the factories where the Louis Vuitton stock destined for BT is made by the very same exploited and malnourished illiterate peasant women as make the rest of the worlds luxury brands.

Our holiday rep (Budget Travel) told us (bus full of people) on route to our resort that there where no copyright laws and that was the reason for all the lovely cheap bags... Maybe she was working for the traders  :o

That sounds like bs to me tbh. You wouldn't be asked by a lecturer to go out and find drug dealers if you were writing an essay on the drugs market in Ireland so why should counterfeit goods be any different?

Discuss the topic of counterfeit goods if ye want but no offers or addresses of vendors of illegal goods!

getting a bit off topic but i think it's because they - as in abercrombie clothes - were worn by the so called actors in "hit shows" like The O.C and one tree hill *insert any other rich society program here*.

some of their jeans are alright though, none of the pre-worn stuff though.

I love Turkey, been there twice. Got some lovely, classy bags there. Fake Tod's, Gucci, Louis Vuitton. You can buy cheapy bags for a few euro, or you can pay €50+ and get something that won't fall apart and looks perfect.

They do fake jeans and jumpers etc. The handbags tend to be of better quality though.
They also do watches, sunglasses, dvds, shoes, backpacks.

cm tyranny, the bags in Turkey are NOT the same quality as the real things.

I have been to Turkey, and considered buying knock off luggage and bags there. I own several genuine designer bags and I can definitely tell the difference.

Most of the bags are not real leather, the materials used are the wrong colour (particularly the tan straps on fake Louis Vuitton goods) and dustbags are the wrong material. Hardware is plastic, not silver or gold, and is very brittle. Even if the bag looks similar to the genuine article, the quality is definitely not. I have a Dior saddlebag, and a girl I know got an imitation one for Christmas. The silver C came away from the D on NEW YEAR'S EVE. She used it about twice and a screw came loose in the hardware.

Girls, if you insist on buying copy bags, etc, the best place to go is Chinatown in New York. Nowhere else does copies as good. They will, however, try and sell you plastic copies, but you need to know what you're looking for. Bring a lighter. If it's leather, it won't melt. Louis Vuitton bags (real of excellent copies) will never have a bit of the monogram (LV symbol) cut off. Check out tags inside the bags, authenticity cards, etc. New York really is the only place to buy if you want to fool people with your knockoff.
