So what do you guys call your instruments?

My bass is called Dolores, my old bass is called Bob. My acoustic guitar is called Herpes and my keyboard is called Thierry. Couple of guys in my band named their electric guitars Buffy and Dr Fill. Their acoustic guitars are called Agnes and Bluey.

If you don't name your instruments I suggest you go and do so now, it gives them more character. Also it makes them 1000 times better*

I call a lot of mine "For Sale" ;)

I just call them what they are. Ltd M, LTD 7, Ibanez, etc.

I just call mine either by their model names, or by their brand names. So it's Ibanez, rather than saying RG1527, because who cares about the numbers? But in the case of my BC Rich guitars, it'd be Stealth, Mockingbird, and so on.

Having only one guitar and one bass they are just known as "The Guitar" and "The Bass"

Hannibal Schecter (a C1 Elite 6-string), who lives in a coffin case, and Iceman (my bass). Can't improve on Iceman. :v:

The strat is just "Strat", the acoustic has no name. I'd call the others "Ibanez" but there's two so I have "good" (GRX70) and "better" (RG1570).

Banning? Thats a bit over the top really now isnt it?

epiphone acoustic is the only guitar I've named, cause some little kids decided to call it "Frankal" so it stuck.

Ok, I'll be careful not to sneeze on the way out, I dont want to be banned. Though a sneezing is probably a gasable offence. Ooo err.

    Inferior threads are go.

Tell that to BB King ....he's been calling his 355 'Lucille' for years.
I think all the old blues guys have a name for their guitars..
I dont have a name for my mine but must give em a christening soon.
hmmm ...maybe my tele should be nicknamed 'the twangmeister' or 'Sir Twangalot'...:D

then again i might get strange looks if I say '' let me pull out my twangmeister "

hmmm. I guess my Tele is called 'me electric'. Maybe I could trnsform that to something like 'Myleci'. Yeah. that'll do!

My old KRAMER ferrington is called ' Ol' faithful' but she's never relly been christenned that. til now I guess.

I ve had her years and years and she's always good fun to ride, I mean play. That guitar is like an old pair of shoes now.

I used to do a lot of drumming on what I called 'the keyboard', but it annoyed the other pc users in the office who told me to clip my nails.
My ex used to call my organ "the beast".
    I'm not a musician.

I just refer to mine as the black one, the red one, the old one, the strat and me acoustic. Allthough sometimes I have been known to refer to them as

    "Ahhh f**k off ya piece of c**p. F*&%ing useless w@£&$%(*R. Why did I waste money on this !@!$£!2 !;$!£4 %^&%^%^67." :(

    Happy new year to y'all!

My semi is called Louise and my electric, Lisa.
I love my 2 girls! God I missed them while I was away!

Louise is my little treasure. She's really happy since last night cos I put on brand new strings.
Lisa is a damn sexy guitar. Well, I feel sexy when I play with her ;)

My amp is called Mister Fender. He is called by his surname because he deserves respect. He's looking forward to playing live and (very) loud.

You better be a woman ;)

Yes I am my darling. But why this question? Can't guys feel sexy playing the guitar too?

No, it was banned in the early 90s with the rise of grunge.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,217 ✭✭✭Rustar

Yes. There was nothing sexy about grunge.
Plus, there was a backlash from all those 80's hairmetal guys trying to be just too sexy with their guitars, open silk shirts, and flowing locks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,433 ✭✭✭Quattroste

    It wasn't a question. :p and no, and don't go there. ;)
