AFAIK it affected a couple of sites hosted by netsoc. Thought it might be cleared up by now though. Apparently Tom's putting together a new page anyway, so it might be something to do with that.

Netsoc got hack through the SU webiste, due to them not unpdating it with security patches in like a year or something. Afew other netsoc hosted sites where taken down and won't be put back untill they are updated.

PHPNuke (the webboard and general outlay that is used on the lgbt, usilgb and SU sites) was never really updated. so it had a ****load of security patches and someone used one.

The SU, LGBT and USILGB websites hosted by
Netsoc have been disabled. This was prompted by investigations following
a break-in through the SU website.... This break-in
required a significant amount of admin time to clean up.

Your website will remain disabled until you have applied the appropriate
    security patches.

If anyone either from the SU or who has email addresses for SU people is reading this, please get in touch with either Brian Brazil, or myself (Netsoc Treasurer), to get help in bringing the site up to an acceptable standard of security.

    Rob,
Union Publications including the website is dealt with by Tom Dillon, the Deputy President . His email address is deppres@tcdsu.org . I dont know if you've already tried contacting him at this address.

    Hope that helps,

far more efficient than ucdsu.net - their discussion forum has been down for months, because of a relatively simple hack...

Now that there's a new look - anyone who wants to take a trip back to the original site from early 2002 can click here. It's a nearly complete snapshot - just missing some images.
