What mp3 player is it? Do you use software to put the songs on, or can you do it through Windows Explorer?

Right click on the recycle bin on your desktop with the drive attached. Clcik the global tab and click the "configuer each drive separately". Select the tab at the top which is your mp3 player. Clcik the box that says "do not move files to recycle bin...." This will disable the recycle bin for your MP3 Player which is what has happened to your player, the recycle bin has all the old deleted files in it that you thought where gone.

That should sort it. We get this a lot back on Misticriver and is what most people dont realise is happening. All this assumes that it is a UMS drive and that you have Windows XP.

To be honest i'm not sure which one it is cant see a company logo anywhere. I load songgs through IE . I went to recycling bin and my device isn't showing up there but it is being recognise by the computer. plus it seems like a very large portion to be taken up by the recycling bin .

i wonder could i have set a side memory on the device itself for data only ? not sure just spitballing .

As regards type it's got the same absic set up as every other memory stick/ mp3player if that help .

I've attached a pic it's not mine but hte contriols are identical and i recon the op system is pretty much the same .u303_blue_usb_2.jpg

thanks for the help guys much apprciated !!

Try reformatting the drive then. That should clear it. Otherwise there is something wrong as it should show the full drive size after a full format.
