Gettin ass kicked at halo 2 on xbl.. any advice?

get a keyboard and mouse, i'd imagine the majority of serious players are using a keyboard and mouse combo as you can go around the map just absolutely decimating everyone that has a joypad.

Seriously seatleon, just play more, complete the game on Legendary - you have to be a legend yourself to do this on your own!.

mm this isnt that great but sometimes useful... in the level Coagulation or something you can actually drive up somn parts of the cliffs ( not that high but its all good) on a Ghost. Its a glitch. just grab a sniper and youll be doin grand

although i've never played halo2 nothing actually makes you better than pure practice, and knowledge of the game like maps/where all the pickup's are/ spawn points etc.etc.

Not really, when you're good at the game you're good - simple as really, okay a mouse and keyboard is a more desirable set up but if you max out the sensitivity of the analogue sticks on the joypad it's nearly as good as using the mouse/keyboard.

I played it twice, the amount of arse bags and the fact I was being killed within ten seconds of spawning each time made me quit.

For me PD0 and Call of Duty (discounting the lag) are better online

I wouldnt worry about losing a lot, just keep playing, get used to the maps and you will improve. Your level 6 will quickly move up to higher levels as you start getting better, dont worry. It goes to 60, but you dont see many players about 30. 42 is the highest I've seen, I'm 25 myself in Team Slayer.

Another idea is to try and get a friend playing to, then you can play Double Team, which is a two a side game. Much more fun and you can develop a few tactics for each map.

@Cremo: Auto aim is on in Halo 2 to make the game more based around fun and make it appeal to a wider audience. It's supposed to be arcadey, fast and furious. Precision, increased difficulty etc. are reserved more for CoD and Counterstrike.

Whats the point in playing? Its damn good bloody fun. Why else?

Yes the amount of arsebags is incredibly annoying. They all tend to be 12 and from the Bible Belt of the USA though, so great fun can be taken from slagging them back.

Ok first off, ive proved this point with my brother, keyboard and mouse make no ****ing difference to Halo or Halo 2 even if its possible to use them, ive been playing both games since they came out, (it is possible though to rig your xbox with a keyboard and mouse if it is chipped). My brother being the big quake fan that he is couldn't take me whooping him at a fps so he decided to challange me to a Halo match on the pc where he'd ('finally') get to kick my ass because he'd have access to a keyboard and mouse, he offered me the same option but i decided to stick with old faithful and use my xbox controller with a handy xbox 2 usb adapter. When began playing on his favourite level Hang Em High, the score finished as it usually does with me a full 10 kills clear of him and winning the timed match, then he said he needed other players in the arena too, so off i went to fetch cousins and friends and the like for a big LAN of PC Halo, again i won the matches that perceeded with him not even coming second in some of the matches.
Conclusion - Halo was designed for the xbox controller not the keyboard and mouse.

Now on to your matter of getting better at Halo 2, well first off ditch xbox live, full off nothing but stupid retards that accuse you of cheating if they cant kill you in a match (cheating on the xbox wtf!) Ok there is this thing called Xbox Connect search it in google for more info, its full of better players, and it also allows you to play Halo online not just Halo 2. I know youve said practice but thats the only way you'll get better, play with better players than you and you'll start to learn by example, as for hints google them again, play the campaign on Legendary, or play it with a mate for a real challange cause its a bitch when one of you die and you have to go back to last check point no more of this crap like in Halo </rant>

Cheating and assholes are just as prevelant on Xbox Connect/Xlink, stick with live but get some people on your friends list to play with.

not cheat per say, but there are glitches in games that get exploited, on xbox connect there is cheating but most people can spot this and kick the person quickly

Anyone know if a 360 version is (or ever will be) out? I just cant get used to not having mouse look! GRRRrrr, it puts me off buying FPS games for the Xbox and now the 360.

not in halo2. anyway, i doubt all the "top players" use a keyboard and mouse tbh, im a level 30 and use a pad, halo feels wrong with mouse and keyboard, as someone already mentioned, it was designed for xbox.

halo2 is a camping whores wet dream, so if you cant beat them... join them! whore weapons like you life depends on it, dont try be a hero and take on tons of enemies.

get playing a couple of multiplayer games with the lads, split screen or LAN games, play a couple of different gametypes and get used to it, its generally down to aiming!

Ive never once finished the one-player mode of Halo one or 2 because I found it the most boring thing in ages, cant beat a bit of human opposition!

Im a level 17 now and I can safely say, I play better multiplayer than I do a campaign game.....

Best multiplayer game ever.... by far

Even surpasses Goldeneye on N64!!!

And I got a 360 w PDZ + PGR3, and PDZ doesnt even come close......
