also if i were to order this game from america on ebay, would it work on a european xbox360? like is it multi regional?

i was down in wexford over xmas and saw it for sale in the gamestop down there. have seen it for sale in another shop somewhere as well, think it was gamestop in clare hall?

I was just checking play.com and its still the 3-Feb maybe it will be out sooner but I also noticed Gears of War is out the same day, now I don't know which one to get, and my €100 Xtra Vision voucher will not cover both.

they are their to make you go "id like to preprder that" or whatever. I hate em tbh cause you always get idiots bringing up boxes with "coming soon" clearly marked and yet theyll try buy it .

well being europe we speak other languages than those americans and japanese so maybe they need to add extra voice acting in french and german or something like that, could be wrong but that but seems like a logical explanation, also maybe there is a slight complication in getting it to work on european TVs

on that note PAL and NTSC are for standard TVs?? So why if xbox 360 has gone HDTV can we not play american games or am I just dense

Well, the consoles still have to be different because I'd guess at least 50% of people using them aren't using HDTV.

And their also region locked because the publishers like to have control, eg. Japan and America are both different regions even though their the same format, PC DVD players are region locked, PSP movies are region locked, all without any technical reason.

However, the 360 does make region locking optional for developers, meaning some games do work on systems from other regions, Ridge Racer being one of them. Whether that applies to DOA I don't know, people have only been finding this out by trial and error and I was reading a thread on it somewhere before that was maintaining a list, can't remember where though

Both DOA4 and Ridge racers are region free. You just need to make sure your TV can support 60HZ.

the game arrived today from canada... the game does work so im happy. but it doesnt work on 50htz tellys... had a minor freak attack when i was stuck at the "push start" screen at the beginning..... it wasnt exepting and controller input... so then tried it through my monitor with the vga cable and it sorted it out... played two story modes so far, the levels are lush and the tits physics is even better !!! cut scenes at the end of each players story mode are fantastic. and the online mode looks mad... havent had time to give it a full bash yet tho...

unlocked the halo spartan last nite! really odd playing the game with her.... she's fully suited like the master chief with really nice textures on her suit....one of her special throw moves involves a sticky grenade.... which is nice

Just got the game in for sale in work and it requires a tv that can display at 60Hz minimum. Check your tv before purchasing I suppose.

I have it a week now. I think it's much better than PGR, but then again I've never liked any other racer other than Ridge

Mine won't go past the start screen, it won't respond to my controller despite the controller working fine.

EDIT: Found the solution, go to the system blade and then to display and set your settings to pal 60.

Last good 3d fighting game I got was Soul Caliber 2, dont think ive bought one since.........

definately.. its great craic... multiplayer is great fun with a bunch of mates.... and whats funny is my girlfriend is suprisingly good at it!!! the cut scene humor in sigle player is very random but very funny in parts..

Tis also the same on the sign going round the wrestling arena

Class game so far, some very very hard to pull off moves though.

I've never played DOA before...any of them, and pretty any other fighter since virtua fighter.
Is it hard to pick up....learn the moves?

I'm having trouble getting to grips with the counters which look to be a huge part of mastering the game.

The countering is a big enough part of the game, but once you get to grips with them, they're easy enough. Best way to learn is to use sparring mode as opposed to story, as the computer can be very very cheap in the later stages of the game. This and the exclusion of an easy mode was supposidly put in by the developers to make the standard online better.

I didnt get an xbox 360 and now Im glad I didn't.
To me it seems like they're basically forcing people to buy new tvs in order to play any of the decent xbox 360 games which is proposterous and is a con on both microsoft and team ninjas part.
Its completely ridiculous that they don't support 50hz on both dead or alive 4 and ridge racer 4 as its the standard european format for tv.
If you have an xbox 360 and like fighting games you're gonna want dead or alive 4 and then when you buy the pal version and discover you need a new 100hz telly to play it on you'd be very annoyed.
I just can't believe theyre forcing people to buy a new tv in order to play their games.
Both microsoft and team ninja have reached a new low.

100hz TV? Where did you get this information from? The game will run fine in 60hz which the majority of TVs made in the last 6 or so years support. It's hardly a conspiracy by MS and Team Ninja to make people by new TVs, what do they possibly have to benefit from it? If it were Sony, then there's a small small small chance that they're doing it to boost sales of their TVs, but with so much choice out there who's to say they'll see the benefit of it?

Ok Iv tried games on 60hz on my ps2 just to see wot happened and its turned them black and white so I go back to 50hz and all is fine so I guess my tv doesn't support 60hz.
Im not sure how old it is about 5 years I suppose.
Just saying it is a bit silly when they can easily put in a 50hz mode.

Well, there wasn't a big outcry from GameCube owners a year and a bit ago when Metroid Prime 2: Echoes came out in PAL-60 only. Or almost 3 years ago when the bonus disc with Wind Waker was also PAL-60 only. My cheap-ass 4 year old telly has no problem with PAL-60. It also means no more really dodgy conversions with borders everywhere. TBH I think the move to PAL-60 is a good thing, especially if it means that we don't have to wait 6 months or more for every new game that comes out.

Rainbow Kirby's right lads, the development of consoles needs these kind of things, and releasing 2 versions of games just because you have a crap tv is a waste of developers time, and games will take longer to come out, sure if i bought doa 4 i couldn't play it on my tv, but im not going to complain "omfg my tv has no scart and cant play my 360, what a rip omgbbq" I think most companies do well to address different peoples needs, if MS "wanted" you to buy a new tv, they would only include HD cables, THEN people would be pissed, but they can only do so much, and a game like DOA4 with such a high frame rate, and the game it is, will look, and run better on 60hz anyways.

Is anybody else getting some bad lag when playing online? It seems to be consistantly quite jerky when fighting.

Also: counters are a pain in this one. My fingers hurt.

played this over the weekend, for a while. Graphically it's possible the best looking game I've ever seen, as for the game itself, well I found the difficulty progression a bit strange, allow mw to explain.

I Like Beat em up's I've been a Tekken, street fighter and virtua fighter fan for a long time even soul calibre on occasion. While I'm not the greatest player I have logged my fair share of hours. So I was surprised when I started my first game of DOA to win through 7 rounds with ease (bearing in mind I've never played any of the previous ones) then the 8th round (final one in Story mode) it took me about 15-20 attempts to beat.

This wasn't isolated, almost every character I had the same experience. The online I played a few games of and seemed to be doing alright interms of beating the oposition but it was laggy and it froze after every match! I'm sorry but that's just unacceptable as far as I'm concerned I had to get off the couch after every online match

so to sum up the 1player game doesn't have a progression to it it's easy till the final level and then unbelievably difficult and the online play is laggy and buggy I'm so glad I can exchange this game.
