New 'Extended' Stt's on Tribeca

Maybe this deserves its own thread, maybe it doesn't, but i think this will please(and affect) a lot of people. They're new format sit n go's, with 12 minute blinds levels, instead of the usual 8, something which i've always thought was long overdue. Hopefully if they're popular, they'll replace the existing format.

Thoughts, comments, opinions on the above? Does ANYBODY like the existing format? Do any of the high volume stt players from here actually play on tribeca?

VC is part of the Tribeca network along with PPP.

    do they have them shorthanded...?

I don't think so, and as of right now, they only seem to be testing them on a couple of stakes, $10 9 seaters and a couple of others i think.

    Karl,

Any chance of getting them on the shorthanded games....?This would make me play alot more on PP.

I'm fairly happy with the structure. I play next to no hands in the first two levels anyway... I dont really want to wait around longer to get the game going properly. Also sometimes when it gets to heads up the blinds can be too small so it can go on for ages, 12 min would make this more frequent and heads up last even longer.

I havent tried them yet but I dont like the sound of them.

In all the stt's i've played in the last 2 months, i don't think i've once been unhappy that the blinds were low when it got to heads up. In fact, more often than not, the opposite is true. They get to be so big sometimes that luck is generally the deciding factor.

I much prefer deep stacks when heads up, so few people have any clue how to play heads up, I'd say I win 75% of the time when there's actually play left when it's heads up.

That's one of the reasons I don't play tribeca STT's, not only are the blind levels far too short, but also the blind structure is terrible too IMHO.

If you like, we can do double or nothing for 5 extended SNGs in a row. This should be a good bet for you, since your skill advantage is magnified over the longer structure.

Personally, I think the current structure is fine, but I haven't played a lot of STTs, and I'm not going to. They seem to last 45 to 75 minutes as is, and I find the longer ones seem to drag on.

Why do you think i made a stipulation in the contract about the tournament structure having to stay the same? The current format suits my style of play much more, because i'm ALWAYS the most aggressive player at the table. As such, people who sit back and wait for hands, and release their mediocre ones with no challenge, are usually the first ones to get swallowed up by the blinds. Meanwhile, i'm pushing small edges early, and by the 4th blind level(100/200 with a starting stack of 2000), i'm generally in a position to bully people,(or i'm knocked out) because the blinds have risen so quickly. In short, the quick blind structure rewards very aggressive play, but still allows you to play some poker. However, as previously stated, it often is a crapshoot when it gets to headsup.

    Maybe I'm easily confused.

No way this counts as a change in the tournament structure for you to welsh on the bet, not if the standard SNGs are still available.

Playing $5/$10 stt on PPP I find sitting and waiting for a decent hand in positon is a better approach to the early levels 20/40, 30/60 and maybe 50/100. Most of the muppets dont even notice that i havent played a hand

Who said i'm welshing on the bet?! Nothing has changed with the current structure!

And yes, it is a little contradictory, but my feelings are genuinely split on the structure. I've been able to win a lot more on tribeca than any other network because of the tournament structure, but at the same time, the luck factor becomes higher and higher as the stt's go on. I'll elaborate more on this when i'm writing my month review, because its something that affected my play greatly in the first 2 weeks of the bet. I will say this though, when i want to improve my stt game, i don't do it on tribeca.

This is the basic survivors VS accumulators argument, where i'm firmly in the latter. I feel pushing small edges early is vital to winning stt's, and as such, i've had a lot of success with it. It works for me, but what works for you, works for you.

Only goes upto $25 STTs EXTENDED.

Not enough money to tempt me to play them for the length of time.

    How about $50, $100 & $200 STTs EXTENDED?

I would then start to play them...

So, do I owe you €150 or not then? ... Did you win 5 consecutive STT's in row in December?

Given my penchant for bragging, don't you think you'd have heard all about if i'd done it by now?
