    I'm after getting my hands on a cheap ass printer, a Lexmark Z735.

    I installed the drivers from the cd but I'm getting a cannot communicate error.
    I have tried downloading drivers but they appear to be the same as on the CD.

    The power light is flashing. (maybe this should be steady).

    I have XP Home.

    This is pretty basic stuff and it's really annoying me. Any help appreciated.

    "cheap ass" = second hand? refurb? ahem!"borrowed?"

    I'd say the flashing light is a hint-check the manual for its meaning.
    Do the lights flash when... it's plugged in or powered on or only after you send a job?

    try a different cable?
    ensure the cart's are installed correct..
