Sweet jebus have you ever been unfortunate enough and had to drive through the J Walking Hell Hole of a Kip called Gorey? What a complete disaster in modern day communting / transport, you are guaranteed to spent at least 25 minutes of your life sitting in a traffic jam when going through this dump

But eve to get on the Blackwater road you have come into the edge of the town and your stuck in traffic which crawls at times even before the courttown turn off.

The biggest cause of jams in Gorey is when drivers coming from the Southerly direction stop to turn for Courtown at the 'Y' junction on the Northside of the town. Unless they're very considerate & stop tight to the centre line, they block all the Arklow-bound traffic while they themselves cannot turn because none of the South-bound traffic will stop to let them cross-over.

Just one SUV can cause tail-backs stretching all the way to the Southern approaches.

It's a classic case of congestion caused by selfishness & inconsiderate behaviour.

unforunatley, selfishness and inconsiderate driving are a National Trait, due I believe to there being so many drivers on the road who have not had proper driving lessons and also unqualified drivers being out there freely.Even though the traffic volume in the UK is much greater, you see less of this attitude there....as a truck driver I always breath a sigh of relief when a truck appears in the queue I want to join or cross, generally they are the only ones who will give way to you....The other thing that bugs me is the drivers who think it is OK to sail past a queue in the wrong lane and then push in at the last minute.....

tell me about it, my aunt and gran live down near enniscorthy. we just use the back roads around the town and then get back onto the n11 at a later stage. my aunt did her test in gorey a while back too! she passed and said it was easier because of all the traffic.

    1 clue
Coming from Dublin, take a left about a mile or so before the town at the sign for the garden center...

Comming from the south turn right at Clogh just before the Amber filling station (also on right) then hang a left follow that road for about 5 mins and you come out on the 'coast road' which enters Gorey from the east.

Head straight for the traffic lights in the left lane, go straight ahead and turn right heading for Pettits supermarket car park hang a right at the car park entrance and that puts you back on the N11 but at the Dublin end of the main street. It may sound a bit tedious but you'll avoid the 20 min tailback south of Gorey and keep on the move (I really hate stop/start traffic).

    Mike.
