Is it possible, from Ireland, to spoof a website into thinking you are coming from a British IP Address - want to join a site that only allows British visitors?

get a shell account in britain, and then use an ssh tunnel to redirect http traffic through the remote box to the website.

Go through a proxy that gives "British IPs". Or get your internet from UTV.

yeah get a UK proxy, but make sure you go for high anonymity because that will hide your original IP address

    Or NTL perhaps ?

Thanks for all the replies - I'm with NTL broadband - does this help?
And sorry but not savvy with proxy's apart from having used ghostsurf once or twice and that just hides the ip address - can anyone throw me in the right direction of a uk proxy?

p.s It's the BBC website who next year will allow British residents to download programmes - but they are using a thing called Geo-IP to guard against non-uk users - does a proxy server get past this?
    Cheers

Some NTL addresses appear/trated as UK. UTV address are treated as UK (I'd say the BBC would be of the same view).
An anonymous UK proxy will make it look like a UK address..so yes. Google for a list and ensure that it's all above board, etc.

Having an IP from outside the country is annoying, the pop-ups aren't interesting or illegible in my case as I use a German IP address. I guess you get a British geographic Dial-up number and put 0044 before it and that would work although terribly expensive. If you could work in telestunt with a pause and a # you'd be flying as you'd only be charged national call rate then.

    It might work.

Actually, some ads resolve the IP and insert nearby towns/cities into their ad..

I was just laughing at how he likes his popups/ads/spam to be _relevant_ :)

A fair share of mine are in german as a result! I don't particullary like them and most are blocked, But it is interesting to see what dribble they are offering. I have satellite broadband as a result of a pop-up and would never have known about only for it. Alot of those pop-ups about dating websites says meet a match in Berlin, and not ireland so there has to be something to it!
