    Hi,

Can anyone tell me if there is a closing date for claiming tax back (Student job during the Summer hols.)? I heard it MAY be December 31st but i cant find out for sure on the revenue website and their phone system is undergoing maintainence or some such.

    Thanks.

    Revolver,
I doubt that there is any cut off date.I would have thought that you'd have to wait for the tax year to be out before you could claim a rebate anyway.

What I did a few years ago was send a letter to my local revenue office, stating that I was employed for the summer and enclosed my P45. I then got a nice cheque out in the post with my tax back some weeks later.

Unless they have changed the regs recently there is no cut-off date. At one stage I got a tax rebate from three years earlier. I hadn't worked in the country in the interveening years and shortly after I started working here again the cheque arrived on the doorstep. One of the very few nice surprises I have had from the Irish government.
