Discreet dishes

I'm still trying to think of ways around the restrictive lease I have on my new apartment. I'm not supposed to erect a TV aerial or satellite dish on the outside of my ground floor apartment but don't want to be stuck with analogue cable as my sole source of TV.

I have a Lidl camping receiver with its own dish but would like to use the reciever with a disguised dish so that I can get around the restrictive lease I have and watch TV for free

Also terrestrial analogue is pretty poor with an indoor aerial too.

Any suggestions apart from buying another apartment?

Why not go for ntl digital, thats the easiest option, appart from spending a sh1t load of money on a disguised dish.

From the profile of the OP, and irrc from another post, its Clane he's talking about, so NTL digital is out, and I dont think he's keen on cable.

You could try one of these.

Also, satellite signals can travel through plastic, so you can put a dish at ground level and put an upside down plastic box on it, or wrap it in green plastic so it looks like a plant. (Only thing is, is that when it rains it might go a bit haywire with all the rain on the box/plastic. I don't know, I've never tried it myself, maybe other people know.)

The main thing to remember is that a dish doesn't have to be high up to get a signal (although seeing the way many dishes are installed many people haven't copped onto this yet). The signal travels 1000s of kilometres down from space, so those extra couple of metres to ground level make no difference as long as you have sight of the satellite. I don't even have clear sight of the sky, with a few small trees in the way, but the signal still gets through. Don't forget, the Sky signal is quite strong, so you should be able to get away with a smallish dish. You might lose the picture during very, very heavy rain, but maybe you're willing to settle for this.

Unless somethings changed, Clane has a community cable system with about 9 channels and truely unwatchable quality, so it really should be out of the question.
