WTF?! Erased Data?!

I have been shocked to find my Mario Kart DS data was 'magically' erased. I know it wasn't the work of somebody in my house as I was buy it the whole time. I was playing online you see, and I was suddenly disconnected, I thought, meh. Turned off the system, and left it for about a minute, then when I turn it back on, I see my title screen is now the default one and that it's asking is my name OK. I thought this was just a one time error, so I turned it off, and turned it back on, but it persisted, no matter what I did.

I'm really hoping this isn't the work of those "1337 h4xx0rz", I'd hate to think somebody was able to get into the NWC service and get into my game. I kind of doubt the theory but still, I consider it a possibility.

Is there anyway of getting my data back or will I have to work play through the whole game again. *sigh*.

I can't see how you will be able to get your data back though i wouldn't rule out the possibility of someone in your house erasing it either.

Unless they can somehow get into my room and get my DS from the desk right in front of me without me noticing, I think it's safe to say I can rule that possibility out.

Most likely it was in the process of saving when you turned it off. That would wipe it out.
