Nice ... maybe a bit of a lower angle looking up to the light house, in the current composition the wave draws the viewers eyes into the background, but here is nothing there at the end, just sky. You want to draw the eye up to the lighthouse in the background

I find the balance of the picture really distracting. There's way too much going on, and for this pic that just isn't working. You got some nice colours in there, and I like the lead in line from the wave. I think more sky is needed. A lot more. Or perhaps if you had taken it with the camera on turned like a portrait.

Whats the actual focus of the photo? the subject? As it stands the light house defiantly isn't.

I'd like to get rid of the building to the left of the lighthouse, bring the lighthouse and the wall in front of it to the extreme left of the frame.

It's more of a landscape shot than a lighthouse shot tbh. I wouldnt go too mad on including the sky here; there doesn't appear to be any interesting cloud formations or anything else of huge interest going on up there.

Maybe get closer to the lighthouse itself and shoot it in similar light to the current shot. The sidelighting is nice on the building. Did you take any others? I'm half tempted to drive down there tomorrow and see what the story is with it.. must look for the wellyboots :D

Its a "busy" picture alright. Spotting the wave was inspired but unfortunatly it does'nt lead to anything of interest (like a lighthouse!) The exposure is decent with colours niether too rich or washed out.

Thanks for the feedback folks. I shouldn't really have titled it "Youghal Lighthouse" as the lighthouse was only incidental when taking the shot. The lighthouse itself is the subject of numerous hackneyed photos usually taken from the road up to my left. I chose a morning when the tide was well out so that I could shoot from this position. I waited a long time before I got the wave I wanted and I was *very* pleased with the result. Equipment used, in case anyone is interested, was a Canon EOS 20D and a Tamron 17-35 lens.

    Regards,
