Im in Vancouver at the moment on a one year visa.
Just wondering if anybody has been to Canada and worked in any places APART from the normal places such as Toronto, Van, Montreal etc or even have they spent extended periods of time in such places.
Kinda tired of city living so looking for somewhere DIFFERENT but not sure where to go
    Any tips much appreciated

Have you considered some of the ski resorts? Whistler can be a bit much (does have the advantage of being close to Vancouver though). I have some friends who have worked in some of BC's interior resorts, and some of the resorts in the Rockies - all had very positive experiences.

Might be a bit late to get yourself hooked up with a job in a ski resort though as they tend to hire slightly earlier in the season.

Maybe try other spots in the Okanagan (BC Interior) in the spring/summer - lots of seasonal work out that part of the province.

I think most of the ski hills do the majority of hiring in late August/early September. Maybe try some of the hotels around the ski hills. Banff is littered with hotels, there is also Canmore just outside the National Park.
Getting a job right after Christmas could be hard though, as alot of places(retail) are already cutting back on the staff they have, most probably won't be hiring again until about March.
If you want to test your luck you could always try for jobs up in Ft MacMurray working in the oil industry, from what I've heard not easy work but really good pay. If your staying until summer there are also the tree planting jobs and alot of construction projects.
