I am looking at moving from MySql Classic to 10g XE

the Mysql runs at only 10mb and oracle is difficult at 200mb

I want 10g xe to run a single database.

i have disabled the http listener and played around with the
    memory settings.

Any one know any other tricks to reduce memory usage?

This is for multiple client sites so just getting more memory is not
    an option.

Nope, Oracle is a beast when it comes to memory footprint.

I may be on crack, but I think I heard something about Oracle having a special version for emdedded devices?

Plus Oracle is more expensive per seat - €250 last time I looked.

Personally, I use Microsoft's FoxPro DBF ODBC driver. Cheap (i.e. free) and works like a charm. You'll need the full FoxPro for table maintenance though.
