    Hi,
My PC(eMachines, 2.6Ghz etc...) at home will not power on at all, When i came to it today the Fan over the processors heat sync would spin but i was getting no response from anything else on the PC.
When i plug the system in i get the "power going into the PSU" electrical sound if you get me but the fan on the PSU does not spin. I get no response from the power switch at all. I'm getting no beeps etc... The power in the area did go off during the week and i'm kinda suspecting a power surge damaged the PSU. Basically what i'm looking for is a second opinion if anyone would be able to give me one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    -Funk

Both machines crapped out at the same time?
    Are they in different rooms?

Did you have a power outage recently? Or have you a surge protector for the machines?

You're sure the PSU is getting power? If it's an audible thing you think is the PSU getting power it could be something else like speakers (my sub woofer hums like a divil when it gets power).
Check if the power button is connected properly to the motherboard (should see some cables coming from the front panel to some small connections on the mobo).

The sound is coming from the PSU itself its that high pitched burst sound that you get when you connect power etc...

Start stripping it down. Remove gfx card, try it then, if nothing, remove one stick ram and try then, etc, keep going until you get some kind of response as a component might be borked.

If you still get nothing, then it probably is the psu - which already sounds like a likely candidate.
