Digital camera

    i'm toying with the idea of getting a digital camera. i'm looking for something that will be reasonably futureproof, and compact. i already own a 1 gig pro duo memory stick so i'd prefer to get a camera that uses pro duos. i'd be willing to spend 300e. thanks

    Looking for a digital camera for my mom at the moment, and in my searches I heard good things about the Sony DSC-W7 and DSC-W17 (i can't actually tell the difference between the models except one is silver the other is black, and the W7 costs less, but I assume there are some feature differences)

    Not much if you are just printing off normal photograph size prints (like 6X4 prints).

    If you want to be able to print out nice photos are larger sizes (like A4 size) the more pixels the better.

    But really a 5mp camera would do most people.

    It would be more likely that you would want the extra features that come on a newer 7mp camera, like the larger LCD screen at the back. This is nothing to do with the megapixels of the camera, but its to do with the newer cameras have bigger screens. Last years 5mp cameras were all about 1.5" to 2" screens, where as 2.5" or 3" are more common on this years 7mp cameras
