How often do we REALLY have to change..

The Brita water filter yolkies? I think it says you should replace them every 2 weeks. I've been using the same one for about 3 months and the uisce is still as clear as it ever was. I fill it up every night so I must have filled it a good 100 or so times. Is this just a way to make us continue giving such companies money or should I actually change it every 2 weeks?:rolleyes:

It really depends ont he usuage, but I'd say no more than a month!

dont have one now, but i know that it does last longer than it should, its like the ink in the printers, it poped up a message to tell us to replace it so we just took out the old, put it back in and it was good for another 200 sheets.

So do you think there would be any danger using it say 2 years after you put it in if it was still doing it's job of filtering the water, if you filled it every day that is..

Ah now id say it would be well used up by that stage , id say on your useage that what determines its lifespan, i know of the one in the brita kettle and my aunts last an average of 4 -5 weeks, used id say 9-10 times a day.

But I'm just wondering, if it's still doing it's job as filtering, so it may seem like it's working fine, are there hidden dangers (the filter substance being exposed to water too much causing me to drink chemicals I shouldn't be etc) :eek:

the one we have back in th flat says change every six months..its not a brita one tho.
