Extra rack toms

As you can probably guess from the title, I'm thinking of adding an extra rack tom, or two, to my kit. I pay a 5 piece (two mounted toms and a stand-alone floor tom. 12", 13" and 16" respectively) Yamaha Stage Custom Advantage and I'd like to add a smaller tom to the kit; maybe an 8" or a 10" depending on what's available.

Anyway, most of that is beside the point apart from the fact that I want to add a tom. I haven't had any experience in mounting toms from stands before and I'm not really sure what kind of hardware I should be going for and was hoping that someone here could give me a bit of advice.

I was initially looking at this stuff.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Do you want to hang it off a cymbal stand or get it's own stand? It's a bit limiting to have a tom tied to a cymbal, and the arms tend not to have much reach. But it'd probably work out cheaper, and it'd save time in setting up.

I was thinking of hanging it from a cymbal stand, pretty much for the benefits that you mentioned above.

Well, the two pieces of gear you've highlighted seem pretty good to me. The alternative would be getting something like a snare stand for it. I'd avoid the cheap muck stands for that though. You'll get a fuller range of motion with that yamaha tom arm than you would with a cheap stand.
