This is one for the ladies really, but fellas feel free to throw in your experiences...

Basicly I'm a hairy guy, I've got hairy legs, ass, nether regions and especially chest & belly and I would grow a uni-brow, but i pluck...So my questions is to girls, would you prefer a man who is hairless all over his body or quite hairy?

I don't have a hairy back (thank god) and my chest isn't CRAZY hairy, it's just very hairy and I'm deffenatly considering getting myself waxed at least on my chest, but once I do I know I've signed a contract with satan himself and I'll have to do it all the time, so before I do, I need to know what womens reactions are to a hairy chest...does it repulse you or can you handle it? Or even do you like it?

In general, my experiences would suggest waxing is the future...i suppose im just looking for someone to tell me not to...

    (but be honest)

If i am 100% honest, i prefer a man with some hair. I do not like a totally smooth body.

I find a man that has some hair to be more sexy and manly than one that would have a smooth body.

If i were you i dont think waxing is the best route to go, as as you said yourself you will have to continue doing it. Have you had said someone say something to you about your hair ? or do you think that this is the preferance of most girls, because i would have to say most girls would prefer some hair.

some but not a yeti.I like a trail frm his belly button down to his *nether regions* I'd hate a fella to have a hairy back or uni brow though

As you can probable tell, this topic of conversation is going to be very 50/50.... it s just a particular preferance... saying that most girl will grow to love whatever..

So you have nothing to worry about, just do what you want for yourself, and what YOU feel more comftorble and confident with.

Uni-brows make ye look like your cross eyed.As for a hairly arse, well, I suggest getting rid of that yourself with a mach3 or something.usually a trim here and there in the nether regions is good enough. As for your chest, I suggest shaving, and then waxing after the hair has grown back.

ah now, i'm sorry, but i know i'd never be comfortable taking a mach3 to my arse tbh - from my experience, most girls, if they dont like it, can at least live with a bit of a hairy arse.

Your definitely going to get mixed answers from girls when it comes to the hairy vs hairless question. I recently had a drunken natter with some female friends about this and they were 50/50 about it, some girls hate hairy men other girls dont mind it. Personally I dont mind a bit of hair, but do whatever you think is needed to be done. Its your hair at the end of the day!

I have to admit that i dont like that much hair on guys.I do like a small amount but i think a hairy back would be a really big turn off for me. But if i really liked the person to be honest it wouldnt be much of an issue.Hair today gone tommorow thats what i say......so its not worth worrying about

tbh the day i have a hairy back is the day i start seriously considering this question. as it is, i have hairy legs, hairy others, slightly hair arse, hairy chest kinda etc, but no back hair.

(though i did have a scare when i got my hair cut and thought i was growing lots of small hairs, turned out to be the head hairs that dried there after a shower :))

but yeah, generally unless you're insanely, INSANELY hairy, its not gonna be a deal breaker :)

girls, can we stick to the topic here?
gorilla men - rarrrr, yes please!

12 year old boys - ew, no thanks!

men should be hairy, thats the whole point! hair on men is totally attractive, even back hair. high maintenence men are such a turn off. my friends and i are always giving out about all these guys walking around these days with their fancy expencive hair cuts and all, its so not attractive to know that a guy has as much (if not more) time/money on his appearance than i have. please guys, grow up, stop worrying about yr back hair and start worrying about them heavy boxes and things - they wont lift themselves!!

isn't back stubble worse than hair??

I'm a man, I have a hairy chest. The day I start shaving/waxing it is the day I start to wear dresses and use sanitary towels (e.g. the day that will never happen). Women who insist on boyfriends/partners/husbands shaving/waxing their chests are the ones with the problem, as in they'd prefer to be getting in to a bed with a girl.

    Seriously, define "hairy".

ps ARE YOU 12? if ur 12 then u might wanna sort sumtin out. me ex told me that if u keep waxin then eventually it starts to thin.

on the other hand, it might slow down. tho if ur 12 and u have a hairy back, i think its time for action.

Look, i think u know wat u shud do. unless ur 12 of course.

Hairy is hairy. depends on ur degree of hairyness. u prob hav black hair too. spose u cud leave it until u actually get a girl that u might hav the possibility of her seein u naked.

basically, if ur 12, leave it til u get a better head on ur shoulders. if ur above 16/17, maybe 18, then get it sorted by gettin advice in real life.

    Hairy chest= ok-good
    hairy back= gross

For girls with sensitive skin sometimes the hairy question isnt about aesthetics but about not wanting to feel like your being raked with brillo pads.

Dont shave. Wax or do laser treatment.

And no you wont have to do it all the time. Waxed hair grows back differently from shaved hair. You can just do it once and see how you feel about it.

Precisely... Arse hair is there for a reason...

Fricking metrosexuals and their arse-shaving... What is the world coming to

AFAIK, either would get me arrested in this country :)

Unless you're seriously hairy, leave most of the hair. The porn star look is quite unattractive and freakish in my opinion. You could try waxing your backside as many girls don't like a hairy ass even though they like hair elsewhere.

if you want sex, shave it off

From the sounds of it- if u shaved ur chest you would look like you're only wearing trousers when you're naked!

Hairless all over or quite hairy - are those the only options? There is a middle ground you know! I'm not overly keen on male body hair myself... it doesn't do much for me at all. Chest/back hair is one thing, but I've seen blokes at the gym who seem to be sprouting hairs on their upper arms too!

I don't know what you mean about signing a contract with satan if you get it waxed! It will grow back - eventually. I reckon it'd take quite a while, as the follicles would have to start a whole new growth cycle (I presume you've never waxed or plucked your chest hair), so at first the waxes may last longer... perhaps a few months? I think the "waxing weakens hair and makes it thinner" claim is a bit of a myth as I've been waxing my legs for about 10 years and I've not noticed a change.

Also, you've asked for women's opinions on this - may I ask, are you only interested in doing this to attract women? Because if so, that's the wrong reason... I mean, do it for yourself, to make yourself feel happier - but don't do it expecting it to open bedroom doors!

Shaving your arse witha Mach 3.....
    ARE YOU MAD??????

Some places are best left alone from a Mach 3...

OP, if you're concerned about waxing or wet shaving, try using one of the barbers electric cutters with the clip ons and start with a #2 and see where you go from there.

    Agreed.
Its upto a man whether he is comfy with his appearance, not for the sake of what a woman thinks.
Men are supposed to have body hair and not be baby smooth like women!
To the OP, if you are uncomfy with your appearance, trimming is probably a better (and alot cheaper) painless routine if you wanna lose some of the hair. Either that or shell out '000's on laser treatment.

ok, i'm not a very hairy guy. i've hair in all the usual places - head, legs, chest and at the entrance to funderland but i have it somewhere else too - upper arms. approx. at the 'injection' area of my upper arms there are light patches of dark hair. it looks pretty weird...anyone else 'suffer' from this?

Yeah, and tbh im sick of it at this stage. :(

I'll definitely be looking to get that IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) method done in the new year. No doubt it'll be expensive but i reckon it'll be worth every cent if its as permanent as they say.

I do like some hair on a guy, but if he's yeti-like then that's kinda scary. In another way though, a guy with no body hair at all would also be strange. Happy medium ftw :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,724 ✭✭✭BoozyBabe

I would only wax it if it's something YOU wanted to do for yourself, i.e. if it made YOU feel sexier, or more confident, not so that some girl who wouldn't love you if you were hairy would love you.
What's the point? She's too shallow to deserve you.

As for me, ideally, the man wouldn't have that much hair on him, but a nice bit of hair below the belly button. I love that!!
Saying all that, my long term bf (now ex) was covered from head to toe, (including back) in a LOT of hair.
Didn't bother me at all as it was part of him & I loved him.

    Do whatever makes YOU happy.

Unless its big thick back hair I wouldnt wax. Men are supposed to be hairy and I'd definately prefer a hairy chest to a smooth and shiny one!

I have a very hairy ass. haha its horrible!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

Haha, some very funny replies, thanks for all the advice...

So it's not as bad as I thought, the impression i get is that some hair is actually a good thing, so im just gonna try and keep it groomed...nice and short!
I also reckon girls would appreciate a guy who keeps himself groomed, as long as it's not ott metrosexual like someone said.

Also, no im not 12...and yes the reason im doing this is for the girls, which in a round about way, is doing it for myself!

I have some hair on my chest but not loads, Hairy legs, hairy weapon, and hairy arse.
I would like to get rid of or at least trim the hair on my arse but in all honesty i could see myself ariving at the frustrating predicimint of not knowing were to stop.....
I trimed my pubic hair and felt it looked better but i dont think I could take the same chance with arse hair as its not as easy to see and at the end of the day its not something i couldnt live with.
I would also recomend using the head shavers as aposed to the razor type and then use the razor to keep the stubble at bay.

Its taken me 10 mins just to push myself to post this!

I personally find nothing sexier than a man with body hair... If I was with a guy and found out he was waxing or shaving I think Id be horrified :o Men should be men IMO... :D I love cuddling a big bear tbh

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 340 ✭✭The Song Thrush

There's nothing wrong with body hair, as long as it's not a jungle in there. If it's going bushy or curly, trim it. Don't shave it, that'll create stubble. Waxing is just painful. But you should wax if you have shoulder/back hair or hairy feet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68,317 ✭✭✭✭seamus

So you see you have a mixed bag.

Clearly the answer is, "Do whatever makes you feel comfortable, if someone doesn't accept that, they're not worth it".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,659 ✭✭✭Shabadu

I love hairy men. I don't really like the ones who are so hairy they have what appears to be a small mammal appearing from the back of their t-shirt. Bum fluff is adorable, and patches of hair on upper arms is fine.

Brillo pad back would creep me out though.
