where to in fiji?

    Hi,im off to fiji for 9 days just after new years. have heard bad stuff about the mainland,nadi so will probably only spend the first night there. anyone recommend good islands to go to after that? we'll be going at the end of oour trip to oz so we're very very broke so will need to do it cheaply.
    any tips on where to go appreciated
