DVD Regions

    Have Region 1 disc and need to play on my PC, without having to change th region all the time. Is there any way I can permanently change the region of the disc or make my PC universal?

    you can change the region of the disk afaik, but you can just use VLC media player, it plays whatever region your disk is, regardless of what region your player is set to. best of luck :)

    For the disc you could use say DVDshrink or DVDecrypter and copy the disc to the HDD and removing the RPC region code in the process.
    Burn to DVDR if you wish to play on a standalone.

    For the drive there's two options. Flash it with a hacked region free firmware or use something the Slysoft's AnyDVD. AnyDVD runs in the background and decrypts your DVD on the fly. Any player installed is non the wiser.
    The newer version support the removal of Sony's new protection too. (Madagascar)

    If you want to flash your drive, like I have, check out RPC1.org and search for your drive.
    Be 100% sure you get the right one of you could make your drive into a paperweight.


    Maybe Videolan or Mediaplayerclassic are options too.
