Weird Phone tone

I noticed my home phone is acting very weirdly the last few days.
If I or anyone tries to ring my home number it gives a disconnected tone.
I cant make any out going calls ,all i receive is a funny doo doo doo tone.
My broadband is working fine though.
I pulled out my home phone but the line is still giving the disconnected tone so the phone isnt the problem.
I have my line rental and broadband with Eircom but my call provider is different.
I have a dispute with them at the moment as they have been overcharging me.
Could they have contacted Eircom and told them to block both incoming and outgoing phone calls ?
Surely they cant block my incoming calls ?

My filter broke a few months back but I have a splitter now .
    It doesnt have a filter though,just a 2 to 1 splitter.
May I have done some damage ?

ring eircom ask them to send you out a replacement filter..or if you see one of the vans around ask them! you never know...shouldn't have caused any damage...

I opened the Eircom modem box and there are 2 single filters in it.
I put one of them in between the splitter and the phone, that should filter the high freqs from the phone unit.
I dont think the filter is the problem to be honest.

best thing is to ring for an eircom engineer out in the morning as it will then probably be at the exchange and on their side of the line....ie. no charge to yourself..they will sort it out anyhow...

Well I rang Eircom and it seems they have disconnected me because I havent paid my bill.
Funny thing is I have paid it !
The broadband still works though but no phone calls either way.
