    hi there
just a few random/general questions regarding sky digital

i ordered sky digital and chose the variety and knowledge mix, will i be able to tune in bbc, itv as decribed in the sticky?

i've read through some of the posts, and a lot of people have issues getting sky out to install it. i am expecting an engineer friday. what are the chances of him/her turning up? also, will they have my sky card as i have received all my other documentation from sky.

does anyone know who has the contract to install the equipment in the carlow area? what are the chances of having to pay some fee due to a "difficult" installation. (it should be free - christmas offer)

i know these questions are a bit random but it's nice to know how things go

    all info welcome
    thanks

I used the info on the sticky and had no problem at all tuning BBC 3 BBC 4, CBeebies, Radio 4, UTV etc. Now if i could only get C4 I'd be happy!

Sky are very busy. Most installs probabily are OK.

There will be no problem with BBC / ITV "Other channels"

BBC1 NI, BBC2 NI and ITV3,4 & MM are on the program guide.

Browse our new ICDGopedia (link below).

Post again if anything puzzels you later.

The Installer may have card, or Sky may send it to you.

IMO the Knowledge Mix and Variety mix are the two best value. Also included is ABC1 in Variety and Discovery Travel & Living, both not listed by Sky on their publicity last time I looked.

I ordered direct from Sky a couple of weeks ago. On the appointed morning, the installer said he'd be at the house between 2 and 3, so my girlfriend arranged to take time off to be there. A whille later he phoned again to say that he's be running a couple of hours late, which didn't suit my GF. So she left a key for him in the back garden and he did the job no problem, no extras (I had already run a phone extension to the TV). During the install, he phoned her to double check dish position (he put it on the side wall exactly where I wanted it). I'm sure he wasn't supposed to do an install without someoe present, but he did a neat job and it saved us a load of hassle, so I really appreciated it.

He had the sky card with him. Sky's letters suggested that it would be sent directly to me, so I'm not sure if they have a consistant policy on that.

The only hassle I've had was that my direct Debit form took a while to reach Sky and they sent me a letter saying that I risked being cut off. When I phoned them about it, they said they had got the form in the meantime, so all was well in the end.

He took a big chance as he would not be covered by insurance if no one was present.
