Misaligned dish?

Well about 8 weeks ago I installed my first Sky system (Hurrah!). I had moved house, and out of sheer curiosity I decided to tackle the re-installation myself.

After about an hour atop a 12ft ladder and in puring rain and driving wind I finally managed to get the dish aligned right. Or almost right.

Most channels are 100% fine - certainly all the major channels never have any difficulty - the BBCs, ITVs, C4, C5, etc. However, if you go up the EPG you often find the box seizing up. The box needs a re-boot and it is fine again. It can also sometimes happen if you scan to quickly.

I suspect that my dish is slightly misaligned.

Before I re-mount the ladder on Friday, do any of you sages have any wise words of advice? Should I nudge it horizontally first? Or vertically? Is there a way of diagnosing which way I should move it?

Beg borrow or steal a satfinder and take the pain out of it. You can buy one from satellite.ie .

Adjust slowly while watching Quality bargraph. Esp. LNB rotation (Skew).

Thanks guys. I have access to a satellite finder, so I guess it is just a case of fiddling around with the dish.

Thanks for the Skew pointer Watty. I take it to mean that I must now adjust in three dimensions? Horizontal dish, Vertical dish and LNB alignment?

The possibilities for making things worse appear to be endless!!
