    Hey,

For Christmas I want to get some stuff for my PC, most likely just buy it in PCWorld cause I dont want to be waiting for ages to get a delivery from Komplett :)

Iv currently 512MB of DIMM RAM in my Dell PC. However, im finding it at times extremley slow and I dont think iv enough memory to cope. I got two HDD's on my PC, one small one large. One nearly full to. On a Pentium IIII.

Question is, how much RAM should I get? I was going to add 1GB or 512MB (iv two slots free out of four). Maybe thats to much? Just want to improve speeds a bit, I feel its not running as smooth as it should.. (nothing spyware/virus related).

Second one, my mouse is driving me nuts at the moment. Tried cleaning it out but the dust just wont go off the roller. Since mouses are fairly cheap - what should I go for? Wireless or Optical? I use Optical in the college and I find sometimes the mouse has a habbit of trailling of. Ill need the little roller in the middle also.

    Any suggestions? Cheers :)

There's no such thing as too much ram. if you can afford 1GB go for it. avoid wireless mice. i got an optical mouse w/ a wheel for 7.89 in pc world :D does me grand even for gaming. does trail off sometimes tho

i had a wireless mouse before and at random intervals it would shoot off to the right for about 30 seconds, then stop equally randomly. in games this of course meant i spun around in circles. loads of fun. it would randomly click too so i'd be browsing and it would shoot up to the top right and close all my open windows.

512 MB of ram will be grand and any laser mouse.

Does the hard disk churn and churn for ages when you alt-tab, or what? Only if you hear thunderous hard drive activity all the time should you need more RAM. If it's slow and irritating without the manic use of hard drive, just reinstall windows you'll be grand without the extra RAM. But if you still inexplicably crave more RAM, another 512MB will do you fine.

    What OS are you running?
1gb is always a good idea, but tbh I wouldnt bother upgrading an SDRAM system.
Best thing you can do is do a big clear out of stuff and optimise the system :)

despite what others may say you can never have too much ram. xp only runs ok on 512. if you can get two more sticks of 512 to match your origional stick. this ( http://tinyurl.com/e2f9x ) will tell you all about your system including the make and serial no. of your ram. as for a mouse a wired optical mouse is your best bet.

Im well aware of never having enough RAM. Just how much I should of gone for is the question, but id say another two sticks of 512 will do good :)

A lot of what I have I cant clear out, and it would take to much time anyway. Hence why I got a second HDD. =)

    Optical Mouse it is :D
