    Hi all,

Gonna head down to The Europa in Drogheda tomorrow night for my third tournie. Everytime I'm learning new stuff but something I would love to know is how to work out pot odds at certain points during a hand. So is there a simple method of calculating pot odds??

Also does knowing how to work out pot odds give a player much of an advantage over other players that don't??

    Thanks.

Have you tried using the search feature on boards or google?

Someone who knows what pot odds are is someone who has done at least a little thinking and reaading on poker so yes they usually have an advantage over those that don't know what they are or how they work.

if you are on a flush draw and have 4 to a flush by the turn.

Just count your number of outs which is 9 vs number of cards left is 46.

    then take 9 away

    46-9 = 37

so the odds are 37:9 = 4.1:1 to hit your flush on the river.

Or you could just learn off an odds chart that will tell you the percentage for each number of outs you have

A simple mtheod for doing it is:

Take your number of outs. Multiply it by 2 and then multipy by the number of cards left to hit the board. So x2 for the turn and x1 for the river.

    handiest way i find...
