I'm not sure how much time I will have to spare over the next week so thought I'd put this up now. For this I think every nomination should be seconded to warrant going into the poll. Who did the most for Irish poker in 2005 and why?

    I nominate Luke Ivory.
I personally don't think that anyone else has contributed as much to the Irish poker scene as he has.

    I nominate Noel Furlong.

Although his win in the WSOP was a personal triumph all Irish players can hold their heads up because of it. It gives us an image of mad feckers / cute hoors. I particularly liked his comment to the question after his win "What are you going to do now?" .... reply "I'm going to get drunk". (Stu Ungar's reply to "What are you going to do with all that money?" .... "Lose it" was equally classy:D ).

My very first hand of Hold Em was in a Wednesday night €20 Merrion game. Noel and Liam Flood were at the table. They played their usual game. I lost my chips. But I liked they way neither commented on my inexperience.

I have never heard him mention his WSOP win. Most of the players I know (myself included) would be shouting it through loudhailers if we even cashed.:o

This year or over some kind of Life Time award?

If its the later I think we can just put him Luke on his own and I'll save us all a lot of time and edit the vote to read "Luke Ivory: 489769457698475 100%" :)

Luke's been here since like Terry Rogers days and all the way since then!

If its this year then I think the list would have to include: Dara from the SE, Fintan Gavin, Cormac Barry from PPP, Paul Barnes from AllInPoker, Sean Murphy in the Cavendish (remember he's achieved a hell of a lot up there in 12 months!) etc etc.

    Just a thought...

    DeV.

My vote was based on 2005 as antesup.com has do a huuuugggggeeee amount of good for poker in Ireland in 2005.

Closely follwed by PPP (for their actions more than their site!) and Pokerevents for their promotion of good tournaments all over Ireland (after a rocky start).

However, if this is a lifetime thing or even just my lifetime in Poker the Luke Ivory - hands down.

Well it is for 2005 but I think it being the first time we have given awards then nominations can be influenced by the past. As it is we have one nomination that has been seconded - Luke Ivory.

    Luke Ivory is the nuts.

Padraig Parkinson - the Terry Wogan of poker.

I hope that's not a twisted insult to the man ;)

Luke Ivory for lifetime, PP for the year, they gave so many players the chance to play at pro events this year.

I propose Andy Black here... His 5th in the WSOP main event has really lifted the profile of Irish Poker.
