Hopefully this will start a lively debate.

    Which is harder, a snooker's 147 or a dart's 9 dart finish.

p.s. mods: please dont move me as i dont really fit in either the snooker or darts forums and no one checks the sports forum.

I think you're being a tad optimistic there buddy - not likely to get many people's pulses running.

That said a 147 is harder.

Defo a 147, having to get back on the black for each red without making a kock of it.... plus it takes longer, so the concentration has got to be spot on.

All i have got to say is, how many televised 9 darters have you seen Vs. how many 147s?
If these guys are at the tops of the their games then it is clear which is harder to do...

if a 9 dart finish was harder, all the darts players would be changing profession because of the money they would be making from getting all those 147s

With a thread title like "which is harder" I thought this was going to be about something completely different.

    How many 147's have i seen..loads..how many 9 dart finishes..1 ..
My unscientific survey says 147 is for girls and a 9 darter is the stuff real men (who drink 16 pints of beer for breakfast to wash down their corn flakes..etc) are made of.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

A 9 dart finish is way harder. Only one has been done live as far as I know and that was Phil 'The Power' Taylor. I happened to see it live on Sky and I was amazed!

A 147 is incredibly tough but many have been done live.

It's easier to pot a ball in a pocket than to throw a dart in the right bed you want I would say.

    147 hands down.

I've played a guy that threw an 11 dart finish against me, and I've seen Phil Taylor check out with 9 darts in a local exhibition match.

I've never seen a break of over a ton and I used to go to a lot of amateur snooker matches...

A 147 I would imagine. When you're used to pool playing, a snooker table seems as big as Old Trafford...

On law of averages alone, 147 is far in the lead...8 trebles and a double in the right place and in sucession as opposed to 30 red/black combos and the positional shots in between, and then going on to clear the colours?
That law of averages says that 9 in a row is a lot more likely to happen than 36 in a row.

Also the reason you don't see as many 9 dart finishes as opposed to 147s is that snooker is alot more televised...I know darts is catching up the last few years though...
