Anything happening in Wexford?

I live in Galway but am in Wexford a good few times a year. For example, I'll be there during Christmas & new year. The big problem is that I don't have (good) Internet access there and am unwilling to pay two rakes (i.e. site's rake + Internet café's charge). Winning is hard enough as it is. :)

Besides that, I don't like on-line poker all that much as I tend to lose more than win. Whereas in real-life poker I win more than I lose.

Thus, I am wondering if there are any pubs in Wexford town where they play poker and/or if there are any house games? I know that there is no casino there, since I asked around. Also I am unable to find a game whenever I'm there. But that does not mean that there isn't one.

I have limited means of travel (only cabs really) and am located just outside Wexford town when I'm there. So anywhere in or near Wexford town will do. Please help this hamster find a game. :D

Regarding your enquiry for Poker nights,
We are no longer running Poker tournaments at our hotel.
If I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact

My brother in law has been talking about a regular game they have in Blackwater, just outside the town. The pub is called Seanie's locally, but I think it has a different name on it. They have a function room out the back and there's been pretty good turn out the couple weeks he's been down there. Self-deal, except final table, and it's run by some guy who's wife is big in Irish poker, so I believe the "rake" is pretty non-existant.

It's been on the last few fridays, but he wasn't sure about the Christmas schedule.

4 guys from Wexford came into the poker lounge in Limerick last week and said the only poker in Wexford is the CPT (which they love :D) Brutal players.

Example: 2 players limp, I raise, Wexford guy calls in the BB, one of the limperss moves all in, I reraise all in with Jacks for a lot of chips. Wexford guy calls in the BB with K-6o. I win. Same guy left the cash game with over a granny. :o

This Friday is dodgy anyways. (read: my wife would kill me)

If its on on Friday 30/12 I'll definitely go. (assuming its not a 200+ euro buy-in  )

I got the following from the Newbay House (which happens to be in walking-distance from where I am when in Wexford):
Thank you for the enquiry. As of yet there is little information I can
give; however, I can confirm that there will be a number of games running here for private members in mid-February 06.

If you could get in touch around this time, I can have someone provide you with details. A website will also be operational around this time.

    I'm in! :D

Anyone know what the standard of these games are like, I would be interested in some decent live games around wexford but not if they are similar to CPT or the likes. Anyone interesed in home games?

I rang them, and they do indeed hold a poker event. Moreover, I will be there! (likelyness 95%) This also means that I will not be attending the Thursday one in Blackwater (bit very vague). Maybe if more info becomes available before then...

    Wednesday 8:30 pm

The phone call was kinda funny.
    me: What is the buy-in?
    him: Huh?
    me: How much is it?
him: Oh don't worry, its unlimited re-buys for the first bit.
    me: ...
    him: Are you a wizz-kid?
me: If you want to call me that, sure.
him: So you are gonna win are you?
    me: Well, I'll try
him: Hmmz, okay, bring your friends too!
me: What's the full address, or is it easy to find?
him: You're coming from Wexford town right?
    me: Yes.
him: Drive into Curracloe, its the first pub on the right.
    me: ...

Not sure what to make of it. lol
