I'm looking for a word for something I'm writting. Can you help me out.

Whats it called when something is released after being under immense pressure?

Is there a name for it? Something like 'The ... effect'

the "Boom Boom Bang Bang effect" :D

Seriously though, more detail is needed. Would you be referring to the compression of gasses?

a good example would be this here

although im thinking more along the lines of if say he put the lid on the bottle and the pressure built up then was released when he removed the lid.

Words that come to mind would be "venting" and "decompression"

Man, thats a pretty broad statment, when you say released do you mean suddenly or gradually, intentionally or unintentionally??
and what type of pressure and what from, ambient pressure being reduced or pressure inside a container building up???

also why in gods name do you need to know this?

    You want pressure ?
    http://www.llnl.gov/str/Minarik.html
he larger, 1,200-ton hydraulic press can produce pressures of 25 gigapascals (GPa), which is equivalent to 250,000 times the atmospheric pressure at sea level, or the pressure that occurs 700 kilometers deep in the Earth. In addition to pressing on the sample, the experiment passes an electric current through a furnace within the assembly to generate temperatures up to 2,200°C.

    Know any drips ?
    Definition of an Expert
    # Ex, or "X", is also known as the Unknown Quantity.

    # Xpert, pronounced "spurt", can be defined as the Unknown Quantity of a Drip under Pressure.
