yeah my heart says Andy Black but I'm tempted to go with Raymer for the most amazing feat in the game....and Ivey.

fcuk it. his drunked commentary might have been distracting at the SE last night but I'll go with my heart!

    Andy Black! :)

Black, Ivey, Juanda, Chan (er... 10 bracelets, first man to do it anyone?), Doyle Brunson (if you had watched him play the 6-handed NLH in the WSOP this year you'd agree! Oh yeah, also ten bracelets), Juha Helpi (savage run lately).

Of course these are tournie players, we havent mentioned cash games.

I_knockout_U aka Patrik Antonius, I've been following some post about him on 2+2 and he's made millions this year in online cash games,$50/$100 NL, $100/$200 NL, $200/$400 NL, speculation about his net profit for the year ranges from $5million to $15million.

    All of my nominations are serious. I suspect Karl's ... isn't :)

Andy Black. Andy Black. Andy Black

I couldn't give a monkeys about how much players make in the US. The only factor that matters is the esteem that he is held in by his fellow competitors. Andy Black has won a few games in Ireland this year and has respect for his fellow players. Another player who won the last Thursday of the month in October and quite a few other games in Ireland this year and more importantly shows class and diplomacy at all times is Mr. Paddy Hicks. So, my nomination for player of the year is Paddy Hicks.

    Greg Raymer for me.

He got very unlucky to not go further in the WSOP.

I second that nomination. Andy Black was great but Raymer gets my nomination too...

I second Raymer...I think what he did is harder than Harrington's back to back final tables.

How can people nominate raymer solely based on his wsop performance?its 1 event in the year, can anyone back up his other performances this year. Andy has had a tremendous year but mainly at a local level apart from his 2 wsop cashes.

Id like to nominate Mike Matusow, best player in main event imho, then wins WPT event in aruba i think, and he won the tournament of champions.

If im allowed id also like to nominate doyle, 3rd the other day and a 10th bracelet at his age, absolute class

P.S. all the nominations for andy black...was andy black the best player from JAN 1st 2005-dec2005 in the WORLD?i was very proud of andy in the wsop as a fellow irishman and poker player, he was sensationsal. however i couldnt say hes been the best player worldwide this calendar year

Alot of people are of the opinion that what Raymer did is one of the best achievement's of the WSOP (main event). He also cashed at two other WSOP events and a WPT event in 2005,not great achievement's for a player of his standing but I nominated him because on the WSOP main event.

How about Steven Dannenmann...?some achievement for a guy who is/was 4th best in his home games,I also believe he took down $ 100,000 a few weeks ago in Vegas not sure what event but I think it was Tournament of Champions or something like that.

I agree...sure in the last two WSOP he has got past around 7500 players, amazing feat.

He is also a good cash player.

Along with being an incredible player, he's also been a fantastic ambassador for the game since becoming World Champion last year.
