Does anybody know when and why talksport was taken off channel 858:confused: ? Has it been moved to another channel, or just completley taken off the epg? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Subscribed? It's a radio station. They used to up until recently advertise that they were on sky digital channel 858, and on the lyngsat website it stills says that talksport is on astra/eurobird, however when I go to 858 it says "channel unavailable"

Talksport has always only been available with a UK Sky subscription (not sure what level). It's not even available on a UK FTV card.

It's never been available on an Irish subscription.

For some reason you had to be subbed to them!!! They are on the net and AM radio but I'm sure you know that.
I wish they were FTA as I like the through the night shows!!!
I'm going to to scan to see if they are still transmitting. Not sure if they are gone off the FTV card???
    Any help to you??

PS Just did a search, its still transmitting but still encrypted.

Yeah cheers mate. Seems odd that a radio station would be encrypted. Maybe its that there is no real benfit to them broadcasting here as alot of their adds are for services such as banking only available to people in the u.k. Still that explanation is unlikely:confused:

Was it an ex-sub card? I've never been able to get Talksport with an FTV card (having experienced the use of 5 of them).

Seems odd that a radio station would be encrypted.

The speculation in the early days was that it was due to rights issues. Now with 5Live etc freely available, it does seem odd. But who knows how long their encryption deal is for ....

Additionally, I doubt its new owners - UTV - are great fans of encryption, to be honest.
