I've got nothing for my Dad so far for crimbo. I was thinking of just buying him a nice bottle of Irish whiskey. I don't think he's a big fan of Scotch whisky, I've never seen him drink it and I don't know how anyone could like that disgusting smokey taste.. Does anyone have any recomendations. I've been thinking of a bottle of that Jameson Gold stuff. Has anyone ever tried it? How does it compare to the other finer whiskeys?

Jaysis, don't just dismiss Malt Scotch Whisky for being 'that disgusting smokey taste'! However, if he likes Irish (which I must say I do even though my heritage leans towards the Scots) how about an old 15yr Jameson? (It's 15 year the old bottles of Jameson right? at least that's what I recall buying here in Greece). Although in all honesty when I tried that Jameson I was quite squiffy so I can't verify its benefits compared to the non 15yr old.

If you wanna get a lovely whiskey, go for the Irish Mist, expensive but sooo worth it.

I think 12 year old is the older one. I'm not entirely sure though. I havn't stepped into an off licence in a quite a while.

That's a damn good idea Ronny.

If you really love him you'll get him a bottle of Midleton :P

12 Year Old Jameson or Crested Ten are other viable options if you're not willing to lash out €120 odd for the Midleton
