HDTV Problems Please help?

    Ok lads my mate bought a Hdtv yesterday , now there is a problem. The problem is that it he says it looks amazong with his new xbox 360 but sky digital and dvds look weird/grainy. Now lads is their anyone else having the same problem and can it be rectified at all.

    Is he using the correct cables to connect them? Either DVI, HDMI or Component video?
    Some HDTVs can actually look worse at displaying non-HDTV signals compared to standard TVs.

    Also, is it based on LCD? Like a rear-projection LCD thing? If so, they have a native resolution (probably 720), and if a signal other than this is displayed, it can look fuzzy.
