Heuston Ticket Checks

Why are ticket checks at Hueston conducted at the head of the platform where it leads to very large queues? It's fairly galling to be left standing in a queue for ages when the train is at the platform, but the ticket checker hasn't shown up (not unusual). Given that the ticket checker rides the train anyway, and checks the tickets enroute on the few occasions where the tickets aren't checked at the entrance to the platform, why not just check all tickets this way?

If those queues are unavoidable, it would be nice if some effort was made to keep them somewhat orderly - lately there seems to be a large number of people who just head for thetop of the queue and just barge their way in, where one security person stanging nearby would probably deter them.

Write to Richard Fearn, CEO, at Connolly Station, and ask him. He gives good replies (I gave up writing to Customer Services who never replied, despite the Customer Charter promising that they would).
