I have sky + for a couple of months now and find it great. 1 think that really impressed me was how I could record a program from the start even if I hit record half way through the program. My roll back time is 60 minutes However I have tried it now and it doesn't seem to work anymore and just records from when I press record. Do you need to be watching the program for it to roll back or what am I doing wrong.
Is it possible to edit out ads etc from programs on sky+ or do I need to coipy it over to the HD of my DVD recorder to do that?

you have to be watching a program from the start to record it all

this is part of the instant rewind functionality. basically it will store the last hour (or whatever you set it too) on the harddisk to allow pause and rewind. I think that if you then change channels it will start storing your currently viewed program to the hard drive.

also if you are watching for more than 1 hour and then hit record it will only have the previous hour and will have lost the first x mins (i think, open to corrections)

It only starts recording at the point when you changed channel. If it where to record the whole programme as soon as you changed then that would mean the box recording every channel on the epg.
