As per Clouds announcement, and this post, there's a vote tomorrow on whether your ISP can copy every email you send and log every webpage you visit. Email your MEP to encourage them to vote against it.

Emails are about as pointless as those online petition things.

    Send a letter

Anyone know which way they are voting, as there is no point spamming those opposed to it.

    The EU are a joke.

We ought to leave this disgraceful 'Union'.

This proposes to extend data retention to the Internet, and will result in your ISPs logging every email you send, every web page you visit, and everything else you do online and storing that information for several years.
Uh, how do they plan on swinging that one?
Do they plan on saving the content of emails? what about attachments? ... what if I meet my forign contacts on a Quake server to discuss my plans for world domination? Are they going to capture and save every packet?
And for every internet user in the EU for years? That'd take a whole lotta storage I'd say.

And you base this opinion on what exactly?

So what if they want to log everything,i mean you'll only object if you're doing anything illegal.

And what about encryption? They gonna save encrypted traffic? How pointless is *that*.

I'm guessing that this saved data will only be used when someone does something big time naughty.

Ah yeah, and you'd only object to the government putting CCTV cameras in your living room if you're up to something illegal in there right?

Its seems there are quite a crowd of people comfortable with having cameras pointing at them all the time. Look at the crowds queueing up to be on "reality" TV!
