Has anyone out there information on the mirena coil? There's not a whole lot on the mirena website
I’m 20 and ive been on yasmin for 3 years it been working great for me but I always use condoms as well just in case I have missed a pill
Ive never missed more than 1 a month

The only reason I want to change is I was speaking to one of my mom’s friends and she told me the doctors told her the pill had effected her fertility she has 1 naturally and 2 adopted.
I want to have kids when I’m older and I don’t want to have any trouble conceiving because ive been on the pill ive heard on more then 1 case that it affects fertility
Anybody have any experiences with the mirena they would like to share I would be very grateful

No experience with the coil but you're right about the pill. I've been on Yasmin for the past year but only went on it to prevent getting ovarian cysts. I went to a homeopath who told me Yasmin would affect my fertility. I would tend to believe her although many tests have 'proven' that the pill doesn't have much of an impact on fertility. I wouldn't agree though.
Do a search under IUD coil and you might get better results

First off the Mirena is not a coil it is an IUS, an Interuterine System.
Yes it is inserted into the womb like the coil but it is a hormoanal based system.

Second the Mirena can only be fitted to women that have had a baby or a miscarriage as will all interuterine devices.

Thirdly if you have any issues with the form of contraception being perscibled to you by your gp you should go talk to your gp about your fears.
Every woman is differnt that Your mother's friends dr said to her is about her not you.

There are other options that are not oral contraceptives you will find information on then here http://www.ifpa.ie/contraception/index.html
I sugesst you do some reading and then go to your Dr and talk to her/him about you, your body, your choices and concerns.
Hell even print up the sheets and take them with you.

All the same fair play to you for being personally responsible for your sexuality, fertility and health.

    Hi

Ok my sister got pregnant on Yasmin so be careful.
I am on a conterseptive called the Implanon, It last you 3 years and Is 99.9% effective(Theres a one in a million chance of you getiing pregnant)The only side effect Ive had Is my periods are so light i dont notice them, it varies from woman to woman as my sister has noticed hers have gotten heavier.

I have been using it 4 years now, got it changed last May and It really Is great and It doesnt affect your fertility.

Sorry I know its not the mirena

No offence or anything, but using advice from a homeopath to guide your family planning is absolute madness.

All oral contraceptives have a failure rate which increases if the instructions to do
with taking it are not followed to the letter, I could name several types of
oral contraception that I have heard women becoming pregant while using.

The only advise you should listen to about an oral contraception is
Personal Mediacal Advise from you DR or nurse practioner.

Ive read up on it and just wanted some personal experiences with women
have read of some experiences of women getting it with out having had kids
why would that make a difference whether you had kids or not?

Because the entrance into the womb via the cervix is not wide enough to insert
an Interuterine System or an Interuterine Device unless it has been dialated
due to birth, miscarriage, a termination or having under gone a DnC operation.

If you are a suitible canidate for the Mineara and it is inserted correctly it is
wonderful, effective, cost efficent but while it is effective for 5 years as a
contraceptive measure it will not protect against STIs.

    http://www.ifpa.ie/contraception/nuv.html
    http://www.ifpa.ie/contraception/implant.html

are suitible usually for those who can not have the minera but as ever you
    should check with your Dr.
