Prefer a 24g dart myself. Seems to be happy medium between heavy and light which is exactly waht I like

Ill bump this thread out of interest, plus I have changed from a 24g set to a 22g set in the last 2 weeks and I prefer the new set.

I have always thrown 23g darts (although I had a set of 24g drilled out which later became my favorites - not sure of the actual weights after the drilling)

I have found that I am more interested in a 'narrower' barrel and length moreso that the weight these days.

throw 24g myself and i seem very happy with it,if i try heavier darts the seem to wobble all over the place.and i don,t like a really lighter dart.

Another part of the dart is what kind of stem you use I use the short stem (not the very short one though) never liked throwing with long stemed darts.

I use Phil Taylor's 24g barrel and they are brilliant

Sticking with my 24g Harrows Assasain darts. However one thing which has made a great difference to my game was my change from short aluminium stems to nylon. Odd I know but I find the darts stays a lot steadier now.

got my first set of darts when i was about 14-15 they were 27g and i loved em only started really play comps in 06 and loads of lads told me to try a lighter dart so i now have 22g and wouldnt change them for the world.
way easyer hit 60 with the narrow barrel. and i need all the help i can get.:D

also i use long shanks and hafto use the trianglular shaped flights or else the flights hit my finger as i throw.

Goddamn it why do I keep getting pulled into strange forums by enticing, if misleading thread titles. Evil darts players.

I used a 21g winmau sub-zero dart for about a year, found them a brilliant dart but one day i went into a dart shop and found a cheap set of unicorns, they are 20g and i notice a difference right away, i still use my sub-zero's now and again but for matches i use the unicorn's

I use 24g, been playing just for fun since I was about 13 but recently I've been practicing most days. Starting to get a good rhythm with my throw.

Watched Justin Lee Collins:180 on sky one last week. Really enjoyed it... anybody catch it?

I use the older 21g assassins, with 1.3 gram long stems.

Im currently using a set of Phil Taylor Darts which are 23g i think, i'll have to double check

i had been playing with them for nearly 3 months and i was crap, i switched my shafted to metal with a slight bit of lengths on them, and i switched my flights to pear shaped.

Since then my darts are landing almost vertical in the board (ala stacking) and my accuracy has improved 10 fold, im convinced its the flights are making a massive difference and im really enjoying playing at the moment, banging in tons and ton 40's like no mans business.

Played in a memorial tournament in swords there on saturday just gone, won my first match which ended up being a belter, 3-1 with plenty of high scores and then i got drawn against my dad whom ive not played in a while but have never taken legs off.

he took the first and i thought "nuts, business as usual" but i managed to pull myself together and play some good darts, took the next 2 legs to lead 2-1, but my finishing let me down badly in the next one and he leveled at 2-2 before taking it 3-2 on a ton plus checkout.

overall im delighted with my throwing and scoring and even my performance for my first ever tournament and im hoping to maybe enter a few more tournaments to get some more experience. was tough to play my dad in my first tournament but thats the luck of the draw.

Overall i think 23g are nicely weighted, easy to throw and since ive changed my flights ive been very happy with some of my throwing, ive been taking out checkouts like 130, 135 recently in games with mates and regularly hitting tons and ton 40's which was something i just couldnt do up until i changed my dart setup with flights and shafts.

now ive got a stock up reserve of pear flights and shafts just so i can try keep my darts as similar as possible and try refine my game as i practise more
