DVD burning software

I'm setting up a system to archive daily backups to DVD-R, which will then be taken off site. They are using an external USB2 iomega SuperDVD which is an LG drive inside. Now the software that came with the drive (Iomega HotBurn) seems pretty bad so I would like to use an alternative.

Ideally something where I can just create a project, save it to the desktop, making writing a one-or-two click operation (e.g. click on project, click on record). This is easy to do in Nero or Roxio. The backup files will always have the same names and be in the same location.

The laptop has an OEM copy of Roxio 5, (it's a Dell with a CDRW) but this doesn't seem to do DVDs (there is a DVD option, but it only recognises the Iomega drive as a CD writer, not a DVD writer.)

The backup files are on a network share. I have tried CDBurnerXP Pro (freeware) but it seems a bit flakey in places and it doesn't cache files off a network share before burning, causing failures.

Any other suggestions? Anything scriptable? I'm thinking probably just go for Nero but at €80 it's a bit steep and I don't need any of the bells and whistles (video editing etc.)

Thanks for the suggestions; I should have mentioned that built-in Windows only does CD-Rs, and I need to DVD-Rs - and Nero is expensive! Surely there must be some simple/free/reliable program that can do simple file burning without the frills?

DVD Decrypter is great, for example, for burning any .iso image and does so very reliably. Something like that but for files is what I want.

Are OEM/Limited copies of Nero/Roxio available does anyone know? Any cheap way of acquiring a copy legitimately? (Can be limited, I only need the most basic functionality.)

Thanks, appreciate the offer but this really needs to be legit, it is for a client.

I've had a look around myself and might use this:
    http://www.silentnight2004.com/Download.html

or alternatively might try scripting it:

BTW you might edit your post as discussion of that sort of thing isn't looked upon too friendly here ("Down with that sort of thing :) ")

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Try Deepburner. It's freeware as the name suggests and it does burn data dvds :)

It's not anywhere near as feature-rich as Nero but it does the job for me...

    I vote for Copy2DVD http://www.vso-software.fr/
It isn't free (they have a 30 day free trial) but it is beautifully easy to use. By far the the nicest CD/DVD burning software I have seen.
