Waxoil, if thats whats it called, a sealer yes. Is it an involved job doing it, paint or spray? where would I get it. Would the underbody just be done or everything, engine etc. Sorry for the maybe daft question but i have no idea whats involved

For underseal you must steam clean the underside of the car and allow it to dry completely. Also better to remove the exhaust to get in behind it too. Then you apply the underseal, preferably with the car on a lift. I believe it takes about 5 coats to ensure you get every nook and cranny under there. I would estimate about 5 evenings work to get it right.

You use a thinner mix to inject it into cavities. You might consider using Lanolin (sheep's wool oil) for cavity injection instead of waxoil - Fluid Film is a good example - you can buy it online.

You can getv the waxoyl kit at Halfords or www.radionics.ie. You can also buy cavity wax in aerosols which can be better for getting into trickly places as the pressure is higher.

OP, if you do use the waxoyl be sure to heat up prior to spraying, makes a lot easier to apply + allows it to seep in everywhere, happy spraying...

This thread is now 7 years old. A new topic would have been better. You can buy it in Halfords, all forms !

    Oldest zombie thread I've seen!

Go to any decent motor factor rather than Halfords and get 3M Shutz, it's around €5-6 a can, I've just used 12 cans of it on the chassis and underside of the 101. There's a couple of types, the plain black stuff or the stone chip stuff that is textured and better for visible areas like sills.

Stick the cans in a bucket of very hot water as suggested, it will help it flow better, I also know someone who reckons adding 10% clean engine oil makes it creep further and slows the set time.

It is a truly disgusting job to carry out, be prepared to burn your clothes afterwards and don't do it on a fancy paved drive. I'm in my sister's bad books after spraying the 101 in my b-i-l's workshop and then going into the kitchen and leaving a big black bitumen stain on a chair! :o
