Well the fixtures are finally out, and bang goes my confidence about the Dubs having a very good 2006 being kickstarted by a run to the knockout stages of the league.

For the second year in a row, we've only got 3 home games with 4 being away. And also for the 2nd year in a row, we are away to each of Tyrone, Kerry and Cork. Feck all chance of getting out of this group now

At least we've got Monaghan, Fermanagh and Offaly in the group, so we won't have to worry about relegation ;)

And I'd say our game against Mayo in Parnell Park will be another cracker, like last year.

Really Dublin played championship games in Croke Park last year as far as I remember! Parnell Park is their home stadium!

The NHL has been re-jigged as well, there will be no second group phase and the leagues have been changed around slightly with some teams moving!

I can see us winning our three home games and i fancy us to get a win down in kerry as well. Sure if we do that maybe we will make the play-offs

Hardly a home ground in the real sense of the word, given that the likes of Laois, Meath, Westmeath, Kildare etc play as many games there as Dublin do.

Parnell Park is our real home. We'd be practically unbeatable there if we could get a championship game there in front of a full house. Unfortunately the capacity would limit it to smaller games.

The only teams I can see causing Cavan trouble in Division 2B are Sligo and perhaps Westmeath. Roll on a season of promotion :)

And Dublin supporters, unlike the likes of Westmeath, Kildare and Laois, don't have to travel two to three hours to get there. Some just have to walk to the end of their road.

    You are referring to me.

I think Dublin got a raw deal this year as far as the league fixtures are concerned.

Away to Cork,I still fancy our chances but against Kerry and Tyrone many people will see that game as a formality.I think we will give them a run for their money.Kerry will probably get a decision that goes against Dublin causing them to lose.Tyrone will probably win fair and square.

The match against Mayo will be the tightest game.Thats a fifty fifty but I say Dublin will win.I think we will will beat Mayo,Fermanagh,Monaghan,Biffoffaly and Cork and lose to Tyrone and Kerry.

Certainly Dublin supporters are at an advantage, though I honestly don't believe that when we play in the Leinster championship, that playing in Croker gives the team any advantage whatsoever over the opposition. Likewise when/if we ever play any other team used to playing in Croker.

Back on topic, our record against Cork in recent years is pretty abysmal. I'd expect us to lose that one. IMO if we're going to push for the playoffs then we have to beat Tyrone in game 1. The hope is we'd be better prepared and have more hunger to gain some (very small) measure of revenge for the summer. Then the last game is against Kerry, so in a best case scenario we'd go into that needing something to qualify, and you'd be hoping that they're already through or already out, or that they don't really care whether they make the knockout stages or not. Still hard to see us doing it :D

Sligo v Westmeath v Cavan should be very interesting. Sligo seem to be back on the road again and have unearthed some new players, Cavan seem to be steadily improving while Westmeath will look to halt and reverse their slow but steady recent decline - not sure how confident our Westmeath posters are?

hmm, just looked at Div1B for Laois...

Armagh, Galway, Kildare, Meath, Derry, Down, Wexford.

    tougher than 1A.

4 home games > start and finish the campaign at home aswell.

I'd have to disagree with you on that one Kaimera.

Division 1A sees the Dubs against the all ireland champions,Munster champs and finalists,Mayo last years finalists and connacht runners up and also Cork who reached the semi finals.

Laois should beat Down,Derry,Kildare and Wexford and lose to Galway and Armagh.Although I do think the Galway game will be tight. My opinion is that Division A is the group of death.

    true blackbelt.

might be my lack of belief what with players leaving and stuff. Oh, and not being home to hear anything RE: the team.
